Again this incredible long hour passed.
This time they all were rigid, sitting in their common room.
Lily and Molly sat with them.
They'd come down from their dorms after Sirius explained to them what they'd seen.
Lily even sat next to James, but he was far to distracted to make any moves and she was far to concerned to care.
Even though Remus had a book in his lab, he still didn't pay any attention to it, his eyes skimming towards the entrance once in a while.
Nobody spoke a word.
They all were quiet, just the few voices of other students danced through the room.
And then Yvaine stepped in, followed by Minerva Mcgonnagal, much to the others surprise.
The woman's hand was on her petite shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze before she reached a letter to her.
It was already opened but the girl still
looked at it like it was a dangerous thing that was just waiting to bite her hand off.
After a few seconds she took it, nodding at the professor who gave her a sad smile.
Yvaine turned around, Mcgonnagals hand leaving her shoulder, and she saw her friends all staring at her.
Her eyes found Sirius', her beautiful purple eyes cold and distant.
She glanced at James who stood up, taking a step towards her but she shyed away, her eyes wandering towards the stairs to her dorm.
"Yvy..", Lily stood up too, this time the girl avoided her soft green eyes.
Yvaine just shook her head and then headed towards the stairs.
Lily made an incredible sprint and was gone in a second, hurrying after her.
Sirius jumped up, but Remus held his arm.
"Let Lily talk to her first. It's understandable that she doesn't want to see neither James nor you at first. After all you saw her in her weakest moment."
The black haired marauder stood still, before sliding down in the chair again, a long sigh leaving his mouth.
After 10 minutes Molly followed the girls.
Then another 20 minutes passed.
Padfoot stood up, wordlessly climbing the stairs until he reached Yvaines dorm.
With steady hands he opened the door after a soft knock, stepping into the room.
At first he saw Yvaine, her eyes wet and the skin around her eyes red from her constant rubbing.
Lily had her arms around her best friend, her chin resting on her white hair.
Molly sat next to them, one of her freckled hands grasping a milky white one, her thumb rubbing over it.
Both red haired girls looked up at him, while Yvaine just continued to stare at her hands.
"Come Molly. Let's give them a moment.", Lily whispered, much to Sirius' surprise, and they both quickly left.
When Sirius sat next to her on the bed, she jerked into reality, scooting away from him.
"It's alright, Yvaine.", she cocked her head at the mention of her name instead of a nickname.
"No. It isn't.", she breathed and slowly lifted her hands, grabbing the boys arms.
"What happened?", Sirius carefully asked and she looked around, as if to check if they were alone.
Her whole body was tense.
"They're gone, Sirius. Gone."
She started to shake but as he wanted to touch her hair she grabbed his hand, quick like a snake.
"Relax, snowflake. Relax.", his soft whispers reached her ears, caressing her.
"They killed my grandfather.", she chocked out and he went stiff.
A heavy lump formed in his throat but he forbid himself to think about himself, as he stared into her big eyes.
They were pleading and begging, glassy with tears.
She needed him right now and he was damned if he wouldn't be there for her.
He opened his mouth to say something but she just digged her nails into his skin, making him hiss quietly.
"Deatheaters. They killed him, attacking him at home. My grandma's still missing. Maybe on the run, maybe dead. They don't know."
Sirius pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly as she shook, her breathing ragged.
The boy pressed his face into her hair, once again breathing in her wonderful scent.
He imagined what would've happened if she had been with her grandparents when they were attacked.
She would've been there too.
Maybe they would've kidnapped her.
But she could be dead too.
This thought scared him more than something ever had.
"I'm here, my flake.", he cooed, craddling her back and forth.
Yvaine pulled away from him, desperation in her face, so clear and strong that he could nearly feel it for himself.
"I'm alone, Sirius. Alone. They're gone.. What am I-", she broke off, her chest quivering as more tears made their way over her cheeks.
He took her face in his hands, one hand sliding down her face to her neck.
"You're not alone, okay? You have me."
Yvaine looked at him, red eyed but still beautiful.
"You will always have me.", he continued and her breath stopped for a moment.
The purple in her eyes seemed to glow due the tears, as they looked up at him.
He leaned his forehead against hers, her eyes closing but he kept his open.
Sirius looked down at her lips, a tear travelling down before clinging onto her lower lip.
He leaned down, his lips capturing hers.
The girl stiffened for a moment, her hands trembling.
Then she cramped them around his upper arms, desperately responding to his kiss.
He could taste the saltiness of her tears and the pain she put into this kiss.
Yvaine released all her anger, all her sadness and all her sorrow into her actions, leaving his brain fuzzy from her kisses.
They pulled apart after what seemed hours, their foreheads still connected.
"Yvaine.", he sighed like a prayer as they panted, clinging onto each other.
"I'm sorry.."
Her quiet voice barely reached him, but still he pulled back, his steel eyes burning into hers.
"Don't."
Yvaine lowered her eyes, her hands falling limply from his neck and onto her side.
"I don't want to be alone.", her cry pained him more than every existing curse could.
Again he embraced her.
He just couldn't stop.
His heart nearly gave out as she whispered in her soft angelic voice:"Sirius..don't leave me."
The boy tightened his grip on her before looking down at her, once again sealing her lips with his.
Her lips were like heaven, salty or not, desperate or not.
She was heaven.
His heaven.
"Never. You have me, my snowflake."
"You have us.", James voice suddenly came from the door, making Yvaine jump away from Sirius, who just continued to hold her.
Remus, James, Lily and Molly stood in the room, all eyes filled with sympathy.
When they saw how Yvaine avoided their eyes, pressing herself closer to Sirius, they stood in a circle around her bed.
Somehow they all fitted into it, engulfing her in a group hug.
Sirius saw how James' eyes squinted shut as he saw her in so much pain.
He didn't like to show it but he was more fond of Yvaine than he'd like to admit.
Not in any romantic way but still more than friends.
She was like a sister even if they just know each other for little time.
In that moment Sirius knew that even when James didn't even know what had happened, he still would do anything to help her.
Because that's what families are for.
And that's what they were.
A family.
