After an hour or so, Melhonin came to take his watch. "Can I have some water?" Faelwen asked Melhonin.

Melhonin nodded. "I suppose so." He called an elf over and asked for a water skin. Soon the elf came back with the water. Melhonin took it and handed it to Faelwen. Faelwen reached through the bars for the skin, but instead of grabbing it, she grabbed the edge of Melhonin's tunic and pulled him into the bars, knocking him unconscious. He slumped to the ground, a nasty lump already forming on his forehead. Faelwen reached down and grabbed the keys off his belt before unlocking the door. She unsheathed his sword and headed through the dimly lit corridors, careful to watch for guards.

Meanwhile Tauriel was assigned to watch the gate. She was sharpening her daggers on a rock. The grating noise filled the air.

Faelwen walked silently through the halls. She searched her brain to remember the way out and turned left, finding the way. She sighted the entrance and smiled. However, that smile was wiped off when she noticed who the guard was. Tauriel. She grimaced, it would be a difficult task to get by that haughty elf.

Tauriel kept sharpening her dagger. She thought about Faelwen's threat. She smiled to herself. It would be no easy task for Faelwen to escape, She thought.

Meanwhile, Crÿthian was told to take Melhonin's place, but as she approached, she noticed that the door to Faelwen's prison was open and that Melhonin was slumped on the floor, unconscious. "Melhonin! Wake up! Are you alright!" Crÿthian saw the water skin in his hand and began to get angry with Faelwen. "Help, guards!" She cried. Immediately she knew what she had to do. She ran to the throne room and called "Uncle! Faelwen has escaped!!! Melhonin is unconscious and Faelwen is no where in sight!" She stopped and caught her breath.

Thranduil immediately called three other guards and said, "Crÿthian, I need you to stay here. You three," pointing to three the guards," come with me!" He immediately ran toward the nearest gate, with the three guards in tow.

Faelwen heard voices and hid in the shadows. She scolded herself for taking too long. Staying in the shadows and out of sight, she neared the gates. Suddenly, she launched at Tauriel, attacking her unannounced. Using the blade she stole from Melhonin, she fought the skilled elleth.

Just then Thranduil came around the corner with his bow strung with an arrow at his side. He pulled the bow back and said, "Put down the sword, human, or you will be in a lot of pain." He had a cold look in his eyes that told Faelwen that he was not joking. Then, she saw that now she had four loaded bows pointed at her.

Faelwen thought fast and caught Tauriel off guard, shoving the sword against her neck. She scowled, determined not to be taken again.

Tauriel tensed under Faelwen's blade. Anger and frustration pulsed within her. She remembered Faelwen's threat.

Melhonin woke up with a sore head. Memories of what had just taken place pulsed through him. He had handed the water skin to Faelwen, she had grabbed his tunic and pulled- blackness. He sat upright and stood up. He ran to Faelwen's cell and saw the door hanging wide open. Then he ran to Thranduil's throne. A couple of guards informed him of what happened. 'she probably went to the gate.' He thought quickly. Melhonin ran to the gate and saw Faelwen with Melhonin's blade at Tauriel's neck.

"Faelwen, no!" He cried out, for fear of Tauriel's life.

Faelwen turned to Melhonin. She looked conflicted, struggling with her actions. "Put...your weapons down or I will kill her." She voiced forcefully.

"Faelwen," Melhonin began slowly, "I do not think you wish to kill again."

Faelwen snorted, "Again? I don't have a choice. Now drop. Your. Weapons." She ordered sternly.

"You have my word. You let her go, and you may leave." Thranduil supported him.

"How can I know you will be true to your word?" Faelwen questioned.

"I never go back on my word." Thranduil replied.

"Tauriel walk over here," Melhonin commanded, "then Faelwen you may leave if you so wish."

Faelwen pushed Tauriel away and turned to go. Suddenly, an Elven archer released his arrow. It whizzed through the air and struck. Faelwen's eyes opened and she looked down. The arrow was imbedded in her stomach. Blood instantly soaked through her tunic as she dropped to her knees.
