With a combination of full stomachs and the late hour, the kids went straight to bed without complaint. Margot let Isaiah in and he made himself at home on the couch beside a sleeping Titan. Jazz had checked in for a moment, before slipping away to her room for the night. The three kids settled in in the guest room and Margot made sure to shut off the lights for them.
His fingers traced circles on her belly, where her crumpled shirt exposed a small section. Margot had fallen straight to sleep, despite all the promising innuendos she had offered at dinner with her siblings. Isaiah couldn't bring himself to shlump on the couch, so he lay beside her. In the late evening darkness, his finger traced stretch marks on her hips and her bare thighs. Margot stirred ever so slightly, but she never woke.
"I'm in love with you," he whispered, before tucking her in and placing a kiss on her hair.

Margot waited until she heard the click of the door closing. She sighed softly and stared skyward. His mother had told her about breaking his heart. But in all honesty, she didn't know that she could. He was definitely the same arrogant boy from high school, but they were both far from knowing all the intimate details of one another. Well, of course there was that one instance. But that was his body, not quite his soul. She wasn't sure if she had enough hold on Isaiah at all to break his heart.
His "I'm in love with you" might only be a delusion.
