Camp South Wind

Our first game.

I woke up to the sound of an alarm beeping, it was coming the stupid speaker. I rubbed my head and sat up, it seemed to be early really early. The sun was barely up, did i sleep all night? I wondered. I looked over at Logan and he was rubbing his head too, "Psstt!" Trying to get his attention "Hay Logan!" He looked over at me "What!" He sounded tired. I hoped out of my bed and went over to his, "Did your bandanna have dry blood on it?" I whispered not wanting anyone to hear me. "Yeah, i thought everyones did?" He gave me a confused look. "Nope! Katie's didn't and neither did Parkers!" I said a little louder than i should have, Luke who was in the top bunk next to Logan (they all went down in a row on each side) "What are you two whispering about" he hissed still giving me a stink eye look. I rolled my eyes and hoped off the bed to talk to Katie.

"What was that all about?" Logan asked Luke. "Nothing" He replied quickly. "Hay Luke did your bandanna have blood on the back?" "No!" Luke replied sharply. "Oh that's strange, well never mind" Logan went to join me and Katie in our conversation.

A few minutes went by when suddenly the door threw open and standing there was the guy from the van. "Hello campers! Im Ron, you may remember me." His head jerked towards me and Logan "some more than others." The few whispers that floated in the air turned to dead silence. "Well today were going to play a fun game, Follow me!" He said way to excited.
Quickly we all got up and followed him out of the cabin towards a large building, now that it was day i could see better. We were in the middle of no where in a forest, there were a few buildings, our cabin, the large building we were headed to, another cabin, and a small square house type building.

"This" he said in a forced happy tone "is the common building. We will come here to play all our games." I realized that we were all just going along with this, no one did anything to question what's happening to us. Maybe were all scared or just too confused to do anything.

Ron led us into the common building and told us to sit in a circle, we will be given instructions shortly. Then Ron walked out and shut the doors behind him, the doors were huge wood doors fit for a castle. I look at Katie, she was sitting next to me. "What is going on?" "I have no clue." she responded shaking her head. None of us were ready for what was about to happen.

"Are we ready campers!" It was Candice again. "Ok I'm going to explain the game once and only once, this game is easy but you need to be quick!" She giggled as she talked. "The doors will be locked no windows will open, it is your job to search for a code to unlock the front door. Sounds easy enough" she paused. "But for every five minutes you don't have the code" she laughed "one of you dies!" Her laughter grew. "Isn't that fun!"

My stomach turned as she said that, it kept repeating in my head. Thoughts raced through my mind, what if we don't find the code. What if one of my friends dies. What if I die.

"Get ready, get set, GO!" The speaker turned off, and we all started to run around.

I felt dizzy but i did my best to run to Katie, she was crying again. "We're going to make it" I was trying to stay positive but I wasn't sure of that. "Lets go look at the clocks" I held her and and we ran off down the hall, it was the longest hall i have ever seen there were many clocks some were digital and some regular. We looked at every clock we could find, but nothing. I was loosing hope when suddenly. BEEP BEEP.  "What was that" I turned to Katie, she was looking up "How long have we been looking?" Her head sank "Its been five minutes" she reached for my hand and we walked to the main area, so did everyone else. My heat was sinking, i wondered who?

For the first time we saw Candice, she was tall with short unkept red hair and crazy eyes. "Oh no campers, thats five minutes!" Her peppy voice made me cringe, I was sick to the stomach. "Well that means someone has to go!" She laughed to herself, no one else thought this was funny we were disgusted. Katie squeeze my arm like a toddler does when hiding behind its mother. As Candice talked, Katie had tears running down her cheeks, she wouldn't wipe then she was too scared to move. "Lets see who goes!" Candice picked up a book and held it out showing us. "I have all your names in this book and two blank pages, if i open to your name you go but if i get a blank no one goes!" She rubbed her finger over the closed book then sharply opened it she scanned the page and lifted her head "Jonny, who's Jonny?" A small boy raised his hand, it was shaking so much he could barely life it. "Well Jonny its your time!" A sinister smile grew from cheek to cheek. She reached for his arm and dragged him away and out the door. His screams flooded the air as they walked away. No one could move, we were absolutely petrified. The doors slammed shut and a timer started agin. "Begin" her voice rang.

Everyone frantically ran around the rooms, Katie and Parker ran away, Luke was already gone and I didn't know where Logan went. I started crying as i walked to a hallway I hadn't seen before, my eyes burned from my tears but i just kept moving. I saw a painting of a bonfire on the wall and on the other side of the hall a clock and a dresser, with a small box on it. I started at the clock 6:30 it read, but to me it seemed it was pointing at the box. I could barely pick up the box due to my shaking, I examined it carefully when I noticed a small number carved on the bottom 8. I opened the box and saw there more numbers carved in the side but before the numbers was a blank space carved in. They read _412 after thinking for a minute I put the numbers together 8412 that must be it, as soon as i put the box down i voice called "I HAVE IT!" It was a boys voice, not forgetting my code i ran to the main area. Running was hard i still felt dizzy from what had just happened, just like that that kid was gone. "I was looking at a painting when i saw the date, a four number code!" The boy called catching his breath. We were all smiling. He walked up and started to type in the code 1778. He pressed enter and the small code box buzzed and a red light flashed, he dropped to the floor and stared at the ground "Im sorry everyone" he said as he banged his head on the door. Although he seemed really up set and everyone disappointed , i took a breath in and out "I have one too" I called my voice was shaky i could barely talk. "Go for it, but be quick we have less than two minutes left." The boy on the floor said. I walked to the code box and typed in 8 4 1 2 i said aloud. It buzzed but it sounded different this time and flashed green! I started to cry not sad but happy tears, Katie, Parker, and Logan ran to hug me. "I cant believe it!" A voice came from the others "wow sharp thinking kid" a hand patted me on the back. "Im Elizabeth but call me Beth!" She waved at me, she had long dirty blond hair and grey eyes, she was pretty tall, and wore a dirty black skirt and faded magenta sweater. I smiled at her, "thanks" it was all i could manage.

"Congratulations Campers!" It was none other than Candice "good going Reese" when she said my name it sent a chill down my spine. "For finding the code you will get an advantage in the next game!" "Next game" was the only part i got out of that. She opened the door and we rushed out, once we were out and back on the porch we were greeted by Ron. "Hay guys! Wow I'm impressed, only one dead!" He smiled as he talked. "Well lets head back to the cabin, you can all get to know each other and rest. Out next game will be tonight" his smile looked evil.

We walked back to the cabin and as soon as we were in everyone started talking. "I hate this" i faced Logan "and you left me all alone." i still had tears in my eyes. "I'm sorry, but you did it and you get an advantage next game!" He seemed pretty excited about that, but i had forgotten. "Yeah" i let out a deep sigh "i just want to go home i miss my mom and dad." He wrapped his arms around me "We all do."  I went to sit on my bed when I noticed there were curtains around out bed. "I installed curtains so you can changed" someone said as they opened the door. It was Hana. When i saw her I remember what she said "I'm sorry" it echoed through my head. "The others don't think about it but there are boys and girls in the cabin and you cant wear the same clothes for a week" she said with a weak smile. She always looked sad as if she didn't want to be here either. She walked back out of the door and was gone.

"Well" someone broke the silence, it was Beth. "I think we should get to know each other" she began looking around the room. A boy who looked small and scrawny began talking about him self, after him a girl then another soon the entire room was laughing and talking. Even Luke had began talking to a girl with black curly hair and light brown eyes. Later he told Logan her name is Ashley. I was talking to Beth but even though i was enjoying my self i was thinking about what to expect next.
