After the unusual incident earlier, I sat down with Anastasia at the same table that I had sat at during lunch.
She elbowed me, all excited. "You might get claimed tonight!"
I smiled fakely. "Yeah, I might."
I knew in my head that I wasn't. Whoever my mom was, she probably hated me. She wouldn't claim me after ignoring me for 16 straight years. I wasn't one to believe in false hope. I pushed these thoughts to the back of my head.
Before long, Anastasia was advising me to stay away from Apollo kids and not to annoy them. She told me of incidents where they caused Chiron to rhyme-speak an entire day after he didn't allow them to create a chariot racing event.
Soon afterward, news of the Hermes Cabin and their latest adventures were circulating around the table. Apparently, they had stolen LIVE landmines right under the noses of the Ares Cabin. I couldn't help but wonder why they needed those in the first place.
All of a sudden, people started staring at me (or above me at least) all wide-eyed. I rolled my eyes. What now?
Then I looked up. Above me, gray mist in the shape of an owl glowed brightly.
Chiron spoke quickly. "Welcome, Luna, daughter of Athena."
Anastasia smiled at me and congratulated me, but I couldn't help but notice the tears in her eyes.

Before long, I was marching behind my siblings to Cabin 6.
From far away, it appeared a simple building; being only carved of stone and only possessing a carved owl over the doorway. It had many windows, all covered in white curtains.
When I got inside, I was in pure paradise. Although all the bunk beds were shoved against a single wall, there was plenty of room for a miniature library and a dozen SmartBoards.
15 minutes later, I was unpacking my few things on my bunk, which was close to the ceiling and perched against a large window.
For hours, I stargazed out of the window, remembering my old life and the days before my dad was a workaholic but instead someone who would watch the stars with me.

The next day was very boring, just a day to get in the habit of things, I guess.
A camper explained my schedule. Self-defense in the morning... arts and crafts in the afternoon... and so on.
It wasn't till after dinner when hell broke loose.
That night, I laughed to myself a bit. What a crazy couple of days it had been! What was next? Hogwarts?
Yeah right.
An owl, with a letter, immediately landed on my windowsill. It was probably one of the Apollo kids, just messing with me.
I took a quick nap after that.
I awoke to screeches. Why couldn't I just get some sleep in this place? I walked outside, only to be showered in letters (yes- letters and there were identical). I also received annoyed pecks from owls.
"Stop it!"
The owls gazed at me and listened to me, probably because they were Athena's sacred animal.
"Come with me," I commanded. "We are going to Chiron!"
I reached the Big House and started pounding on the door.
"I'm being attacked by hundreds of birds! Help!"
The owls were displeased. Did you just call us birds???
"Yes, now shush!"
Chiron opened the door and stepped out. "Who are you talking to?"
I pointed to my feathery 'friends.'
"They're attacking me and giving me hundreds of stupid letters! Tell the Apollo kids to stop!"
As Chiron walked forwards, the owls showered more letters.
He picked up a letter with a large red wax seal, carefully examining it. On it, it was neatly written:
Ms. L McKnight
The Athena Cabin.
Delphi Strawberry Service
Long Island Sound
NEW YORK
I almost passed out. Why was my life so complicated?

Hello guys! This story is finally getting on the road. Hogwarts here we come!
I just wanted to also say that when I first started drafting this story I didn't want this to be your average demi-witch story where the protagonist is already either a demigod or witch. No, I wanted to first shape Luna as a normal teenager. So, if this story feels a little fast-paced so far, sorry!
Anyways, I am super excited to continue writing this. I can't wait to introduce all my other OCs next chapter!!!
~Lena, the overexcited fangirl
P.S. I'm just curious. What Hogwarts house are you in? :P
Personally, I'm a Ravenclaw.
