There's a silence again. There always seems to be with us.

"Why are there so many silences?"

"Hm?"

I pause for a second. "Periods where neither of us talks..."

"What, you don't like them? I like the quiet."

"I do, too, I guess." Those silences aren't awkward, strangely. I like them. It's sort of like a bonding experience.

"You aren't just lying to make me feel better, are you, princess?"

I shake my head. "You know I wouldn't do that."

"You sure?"

I move away from him and roll my eyes. "Fuck off. Of course I'm sure."

Saeran laughs. "That sounds about right. I'll believe you."

"Aren't you just a saint?"

"Yeah, I know. Thanks for acknowledging it."

I can't help but smile. I love having someone who can return my sarcastic comments. Normally, people think I'm weird or don't know how to react, but not Saeran.

The silence is back and I sigh.

"Yeah. I do like them."

"I'm glad." He looks over at me, a worried expression on his face. "Why are you all the way over there, though?"

I shrug and scoot back over to him.

He laughs. "You're like a child."

"As if you're much better." I scoff, leaning into his embrace.

"True. That's probably why we work so well together."

"That and the sarcasm."

"True." Saeran laughs again.

"We go together well, don't we?"

He hums in affirmation.

"I'm glad to have met you."

"Me too, princess."

Another silence.

"Are you being nicer to your brother?"

Saeran moves away to stare down at me with wide eyes. "What?"

"You know what I said. He seems to be happier lately. Knowing how much he loves you, it just seems to make sense. Unless he got a girlfriend. Which I severely doubt."

"Where is this coming from?"

"Why are you avoiding the question?" I narrow my eyes at him.

He sighs. "Fine. I guess I am being a LITTLE nicer."

I smile up at him. "I'm proud of you."

"I can't help but feel you're being a little condescending there, princess."

I gently hit his arm. "I am not! I'm being serious, Saeran."

"I'm supposed to believe that?" He rubs his arm, pretending I actually hurt him.

"Yes. I'd love to see you and your brother get along. He's a good kid, Saeran. You both are."

I think I saw a ghost of a smile materialize on his face, but it wasn't there for long. "I guess if your highness commands it..." He mumbles.

I laugh. "You're amazing."

"I know."

I hit him again before moving so he can hold me again. "I like being close like this."
