Joshua loves everything about his home, except for the fact that is dying. He loves his family, despite being the odd one out, the one that's a danger to their species due to his shimmering white tail that contrasts the beauty of his coral home. Because of this, he is kept far away from the surface, never allowed to be near the land dwellers for fear of being exposed.
Each merfolk will have a sign, unique only to them and one other, that symbolizes their intertwined souls. Joshua has already found his other half, or rather, his parents found her. Destined to be together simply because of a matching baby pink hair color, but Joshua doesn't believe his parents or the fact a coincidental hair color can decide who he belongs with. Deep down, he knows that she isn't the mermaid he belongs with and his eyesore of a tail is a clue to the mystery of his soulmate. Yet, one day after escaping to a coral reef off limits due to land dwellers constantly being sighted there, a certain brunette land dweller captivates him while floating aimlessly above his hiding spot.

Hello everybody and welcome to Opalescent! A few things about this story before continuing on. First off, this entire book is dedicated to Twentyonespookytyjos !She is such a precious and beautiful soul and if it wasn't for her, this story wouldn't be happening. She continues to help me so much with this, allowing me to bounce ideas off her and offers so much support!Second, I haven't seen many Joshler mermaids and so that inspired me to write this! This is also my first story that I will actually be putting time and effort into, so please be patient with me. As I have most of the basic storyline down as a guideline, I will still struggle to write, but I promise to do my best!
