April 22nd

"It's 8 o'clock! The start of your free day is now!" Jay called as he, Erin, Kevin, and Al walked into Adam's house, the boys running to them.

"I thought Hank was in this too." Adam joked, getting a bag together with diapers, snacks, toys, and clothes for the boys.

"Well, it's one of those rare occasions when Hank Voight is sick, so no. He isn't helping today." Al stated, picking up Ben.

"Okay then. Just please keep my babies safe." Adam pleaded.

"Nothing bad will happen to them." Jay assured him.

"Okay, I trust you guys. Have fun."

As soon as the adults got the kids out of the house, they decided that each one would take one boy, that way there was less chance of anything bad happening.

Alvin took Ben,
Jay took Lincoln,
Erin took Russell,
And Kevin took Andrew.

They agreed to meet up at 6 for dinner at Gino's because Jay was craving some deep-dish pizza.

And the day began.

In his first free day, Adam slept until noon. After that, he cleaned up a little, went grocery shopping, and watched a Cubs game in his underwear on the couch while eating a pizza.

Needless to say, he was having a great day.

"Erin, he's going to kill me." Jay said into his phone, not elaborating on what had happened to Lincoln.

Erin shifted Russell on her hip and took her phone off speaker as she stood in Walmart.

"What did you do? What happened?"

"I took Lincoln fishing. I also forgot sunscreen. Er, the kid looks like a lobster!" Jay panicked, holding the crying Lincoln in his arms inside a public restroom.

"Jay, meet me at Grant Park in 20 minutes and we'll think up a plan. It can't be that bad."

"Oh, it is that bad." Erin said the second she saw poor Lincoln, red as a fire truck.

"Erin!" Jay groaned, still panicky.

"Okay, okay. Here, I bought some aloe and I brought a washcloth and a cold water bottle." Erin said, handing him a bag.

"What for?" Jay asked, clueless.

"Oh my god. Here, take Russell and keep him in the shade while I try and fix up Linc."

Erin laid Lincoln down in the shade of a tree and poured the cold water on the washcloth, which she wiped gently on Lincoln to cool him off before putting the aloe on him.

"I think we should go home with the boys and keep them inside and calm the rest of the day. Deal?"

"Please."

At 6, Jay and Erin took the boys to Gino's and met up with Al and Kevin.

"Bro, what happened to Lincoln?" Kevin asked, eyes wide.

"Shut up about it." Jay mumbled, hating that he let anything happen to the boy.

"He forgot sunscreen." Erin summed up, holding Lincoln in her lap because he was uncomfortable with his sunburn.

"So, what'd you guys do today?" Jay asked.

"I took Ben to run errands with me." Al said.

"Same thing I did with Andy."

After eating and wasting time until 8, they took the boys back home.

"Adam, we're back!" Erin called, but not receiving a response.

They all searched around but found nothing. Jay tried calling him, but he didn't answer, which was unusual. Then he found the living room a mess and blood splattered on the carpet and the couch.

"Call Hank." Jay told them.

"Why?" Erin asked.

"Adam's missing."
