"You seem mad." Nettie murmured as she and Teagan drove around the city.

"Why is that." Teagan said as if it wasn't a question, but a dull statement.

Nettie sighed. "We can just go home... maybe it wasn't a good day to do this..."

"No! I wanna do something, I wanna fix this! I want to make you forget that all of this was my fault! Your damn legs broke, and we couldn't go to the aquarium, and you missed the opportunity of making a friend because of my big mouth. I never know quite when to quit, do I?" Teagan's words came out like short puffs, her voice giving away she was on the brink of tears.

Nettie's eyes remained on the road. "I don't like you because you're mature, and calm, and responsible. I like you because you're you, and something new, and you're not afraid to be yourself. I don't have a very... discernible personality. I'm not funny like you, or likable or pretty or smart I guess. I'm just nice. That's all there is to it."

"But..." Teagan was at a loss for words. "But you're nice. You stay with me even through all my shit. You've like, never gotten mad at me when all I do is blow up at you. You're you, and that's important. You're the one who balances me out... I need you."

Nettie smiled and kissed Teagan on the cheek. "Isn't there a park around here somewhere? Let's just have a nice picnic or something."
