Meeting of Hell

I am loving this job, but it's time to meet my fellow interns and the other doctors. I ran into Dr. O'Malley heading towards the ER," Hey, I am George O'Malley. Are you new to Seattle Grace? Welcome. Sorry but I am in a hurry with meeting the others at the ER. Talk to you later." I waved to Dr. O'Malley and headed towards the Dr. Grey to get my chance to work with the best resident.Before I went to ER, I needed something to eat. I grab a banana and orange juice, I sat down and though about what just happened.

I hear over the intercom, "Dr. Kaili James to the ER, Dr. James to the ER." Wonderful, I am not ready to meet everyone. As i got into the ER, I see many people cheering for me, I was shocked that people were clapping for me. I was told that i was the first intern to be stopped in traffic and helped out an entire car accident family just by myself on Dr to help out without paramedics until they arrived at the scene.

I started talking to the other staff members and getting to know a lot people. Then out of nowhere the ER phone is ringing and the TV goes straight to the news channel for a breaking news story. There was an explosion at a warehouse off of 23rd and Hollis Dr.  Everyone stopped and stared at the TV and called every single nurse. "Make sure that the blood bank has a lot of O-Negative." Dr. Richard Webber comes into the ER with a worried face to the other doctors. 

I run to the bathroom, because i thought that i wasn't ready for the big time. But how can i? I should be ready for the big league. Because I am a doctor for the best Level 1 Drama/Transplant Center. I knew that I shouldn't have left to go to the bathroom. I was going crazy like my life is going into pieces. 

I washed my hands and headed straight to the ER, I met with Dr. Grey and her other interns, they gave me such dirty looks. I completely ignored them. I said to Dr. Grey," I am ready, what do you want me do to?"

"I don't need you at the ER, Dr. Derek Shepard has requested you." Huh? In my mind I was thinking why does the famous Neurosurgeon Dr. Derek Shepard the chief of neurosurgery wants me to work with him but why? So i shake it off and said to Dr. Grey, " Okay, Where do i need go to meet him.?

Dr. Shepard laughed right as I finished my question." Dr. James, I heard that you wanted to see a brain bleed in action. OR 2 is ready to be pepped for a brain bleed." I was completely shocked that he was right behind me. I never knew that a famous neurosurgeon scared me. I called my mom before i went to the OR, "Mom, i am getting to go into the OR for the first time. I was in traffic and there was a car accident and a family of 3 were injured. The mother was injured very badly. So i am going into the OR and work on an actual human brain." My mom was shocked on the phone." Kaili, that is amazing. I am so happy that you are working hard and loving your new job."

My mom was busy with a meeting so she had to hang up quickly. I was not ready to go into the OR, but i didn't want to keep the Parker Kid's mom under anesthesia to long.  So I headed towards the OR floor to scrub and I have thought of many songs to listen in my head while I am scrubbing to prep to work on an actual patient. But nothing really came to the mind. 

I am done with scrubbing, and i am heading into the OR and starting my first surgery with the famous Dr. Derek Shepard Chief of Neurosurgery. Dr. Shepard comes in and asks the first question, " Okay, Dr. James, Are you ready to start the the surgery with me? I hope you are ready because you are doing the whole surgery. I will be right behind you telling you how to fix a brain bleed." My mind is going insane. Did i just hear what i think he said? 

That i am doing the whole surgery by myself. I started breathing really fast and not able see what is right in front of me. Then every thing became dark and was starting to dream. My mom and whole family comes into the hospital and surprises me with a birthday party and everyone is there including the nurses and some residents and attendings. My mom comes up to me and says to me,"Kaili Marie James, I am so proud of you and i hope you find someone special that treats you with respect. If you can't find someone. I will help you." 

The party continues, but i feel that i shouldn't be at a party instead in a OR room and working on a patient from a car accident. But I feel like my brain is in a dream and my body is in a coma. I can't move or talk. I am stuck in one place. What could i do? I need to wake up. What's really weird is that I can hear all the residents and attendings? They are checking on me. I can hear all of them talking about me. But not like gossip, mostly they are talking medical information. 

I am in a coma? I say to myself in my mind. I can hear every single person talk very clear. As i open my eyes. I see my other fellow interns and my resident Dr. Grey. She is freaking out and yelling at Dr. Shepard about the surgery. 

"Dr. Shepard, she is awake and responsive." He comes over to me and i take one look at myself and i find a patient gown over me. I was trying to say something but nothing is coming out of my mouth. So I pretend to write, so they knew that i needed a pad of paper and a pen. Then one of my fellow interns gave some paper and a pen. The first thing that I wrote: What Happened To Me? 

Shepard told me that I fainted and wasn't responding to anyone. So they put me up in a patient room and monitored me for a few days. Wait What? Did Shepard say a few days? I was able to say a few words. " How is the mom?" I said to Shepard. "The mom is fine, she made it through recovery. She has been asking about you?" 

A few days after i had woken up. I wasn't able to help any patients until i the patient was ready to take care of other patients.
