The Madness

39 10 17

Alice lingers beyond the blaze

her mind is hazy, seen better days.

In mourning dreams she finds a way

to call the Cat to come and play.

The rabbit's dead, his head did burst

it wasn't the second time, or even the first.

Alice is trapped on a runaway train.

Everyone whispers, 'She's gone insane'.

The blade she hides under her dress

shall carve those twins into a mess.

Inside their book the words still read

'Wonderland is all she needs.'

She asks, 'Do you understand

that no one's safe in Wonderland?'

The butterflies have all turned brass

there's no one inside that looking glass.

'I told you, Alice, we've all gone mad,

but it makes no difference in this land.

The Red Queen wants to off your head,

I wonder dear...are you better off dead?'

Inside her mind the voices cry

'Why did you do this, Alice why?'

But Alice knows just how the pain

inside her head's driven her insane.

In this horrid, horrid place

Alice wiped the smile off everyone's face.

She wanted to kill then, kill them dead

to please the monsters in her head.
