Gabi was done with the day's work and was walking the wet streets alone in the dark. Not taking her time with every step. Just like every other day, she was completely worn out by the end of this one. By then, all of her drive could only possibly come from the eagerness to get to the house. There were still some things to look forward to at the end of the day.

The buzz of her mobile phone went off in her pocket, slowing her steps. Squinting at the screen, it turned out to be just a text message from a friend.

'I'm at ur place. My roommate was being a shit so thank god i found ur spare key. See ya .xx'

Smirking at the message, she continued to stride to her already nearby house.

It would have been seen as risky, walking the streets alone at night, but she did not seem to care.

The local news had been warning the people of a kidnapper that was at large in the small town; a kidnapper who abducted young women especially.

Moreover, according to the detectives, each reported kidnapping was getting more and more unpredictable which made it more difficult to prevent. For instance, a girl was abducted in school; another was taken in a bar. It still continued to baffle the police.

Taking the last step to the front door of her home, the loud 'intruder' was already audible. Proceeding inside, Gabi, still preoccupied with her mobile phone, was expecting that her friend would be screaming in shock over some TV show. Anyone would easily know that Fink (she'd gotten used to calling her by her surname) tended to be overly dramatic when it came to her TV shows.

Although this turned out to not be her usual intruder's usual screams at all.

There was not just one but two intruders—one being more literal than the other. Gabi's brows furrowed together and her mouth slowly fell open at the view. Her blood heated up yet she stood frozen. What the hell?

Fink was dealing with the unwelcomed intruder––a rather violent man. His back was to Gabi while he was approaching Fink who was desperately crawling away from him. It was so disconcerting for Gabi that there she was not able to fully assess the situation she'd suddenly found herself in.

Eventually, though, she finally toughened up before her friend got even more injured as the man already had his big hands clutched around his victim.

Clenching her jaw and considering nothing else, she sprinted to the man and jumped on his back to claim control. The man was taken by surprise and let go of his victim. Soon enough, they were spinning around, with Gabi hitting his head and tugging on his hair. The man grunted, then forcefully collided her back with a door frame. She fell to the floor, knocking all the wind out of her, causing her to lose grip on her mobile phone which she was gripping so hard just a moment ago she could've crushed it.

Despite the pain in her spine, she straightened her back, and for a split second, thought it was a great idea to sprint to the kitchen that's just perfectly right in sight, and go for a knife. The man was still mere inches in front of her, cursing as he recovered from the previous blows to the head.

Although as soon as she got on her feet, the man took her by the hair and yanked her back onto the floor. The sound of a hard thud echoed as the air pushed out of her lungs. A sharp pain pulsated in her head. The man kicked her almost like a mugger in an alleyway. When he was done with her, he scoffed and left her be as she groaned, and started cursing at himself for such a dragged out ordeal.

Fink still wailed and wailed and she was thrashing about helplessly in an attempt to break free from the man. Quietly standing back up, Gabi regained her senses and discreetly grabbed a nearby wooden folding chair that she thought could serve as a weapon.

Definitely growing more determined by every silent step she was making towards the man. She gripped the chair harder. She watched Fink's frail body get hurled to the wall. Without wasting any more time, Gabi approached the scene and Fink's eyebrows shot up as soon as she saw her friend sneaking behind the intruder. Gabi swung to hit him on the side of his head, but right before she got to, he turned around which caused her to hit his jaw instead. He cursed as he palmed the throbbing in his gums. She whimpered at her failed attempt and clutched the folding chair against her chest, hastily thinking about her next move but still affording to quickly glance over to her friend, seeing her helpless look whilst on the cold floor despite being blocked by the man.

"You fucking bitch!" The man spat out blood at Gabi, still slightly off-balance. Then, in a blink of an eye, he took an aggressive step and reached for her neck, but Fink had pulled on the man's ankles and he fell on his stomach before he even got the chance.

Gabi then saw the opportunity and vehemently brought the chair down to the back of his head. This finally caused no more retaliation from him, his bloody cheek hugging the floor. His breathing seemingly back to normal and his hands relaxed by his sides.

Breathing heavily, Gabi looked over to her friend. Fink must have never been this terrified in her entire life until just then. She rocked herself slowly back and forth as she hiccupped and wiped her face drenched in tears. Despite this, it was a relief.

Breathless, Gabi dropped the folding chair and took the man's feet together to drag him elsewhere. She dragged his weight all the way to her basement.

Gabi figured that Fink would probably remain on the cold floor for a while––shocked and all––but would eventually grow impatient. Then, she'd definitely start to wonder what's taking Gabi so long to call the police. She knew that even though Fink was grateful for her rescue, she was not going to waste time laying on the floor all shocked and hurt; she'd have needed medical attention and the authorities to take action soon enough.

Exhausted, Gabi hobbled back to her friend. She scanned the area for her mobile phone. Only to see that Fink had already decided to make the call herself. With Fink's finger still trembling on the dial pad, Gabi thought it best to interrupt.

Sighing, she walked over to her and snatched her mobile back. "We don't need the police," she casually said and her friend looked taken aback.

"W- what are you talking about... we need to call 911," Fink said, her lips quivering.

Gabi chuckled then looked her straight in the eye and uttered, "You're mine."

Those two words echoed for a while as Fink's first shock still required some time to subside. And just as Gabi had anticipated, her friend's face fell as she felt an all too familiar fear.

Gabi's hands swiftly sealed Fink's mouth to refrain her from getting attention. She didn't want to push her luck since the earlier commotion already somehow managed to leave the neighbours unbothered as far as she knew.

Fink's tears flowed back as she writhed under her so-called friend's restraint.

Up to this day, the abducted girls of that town are yet to be found.
