Entanglement

8 3 2

Undoubtedly the empathy
was lost at sea in apathy
and all of it so narrowly
nearly fell on us
and there to be

Yet we with great alacrity
did deftly bait it prettily
and away it swam verily
violently beyond
and then was gone

Truthfully this charity
could bore one to a rarity
and why should we not warily
wandering suspicious
choose out better fishes?

Life now goes so easily
and how can anyone feasibly
Squander time emotionally
expecting no entanglement
in an ocean of someone else's lament?

a/n: This is a sarcastic poem. Sometimes we fight this inner voice that doesn't care about other people's problems. Sometimes we are just tired or overwhelmed and we would rather just be selfish. Having a giving soul can be very wearisome. And it's not easy to listen to others when you just would rather be left alone; especially if you might become entangled in drama you don't want.
