Star Sister

The forest was once again windy and very cold. This day marks the 60th day of winter. The cold had a big effect on the animals. The bears went in their small cave to hibernate for the winter. The birds left the forest, singing their magnificent songs, trying to escape this snowy and cold like hell. I'm stuck here, in the cold forest, trying my hardest not to die from frostbite. I'm alone, with no one to comfort, kiss or hug, or even love me. These thoughts reminded me more and more about my family.

I remembered those soft kisses I got from my mother before I went to sleep at night and those bear hugs, which were never too tight, she gave me in the morning before I eat my breakfast. My father was never as nice as my mother, but he was really just trying toughen me up for the real world and teach me how to take care of the house. My brother was nothing more than a mean bag! He was never kind to me, no matter what I do to help him. Out of every one in my family, my twin-sister, Nova, was the person, in my opinion, to be the closest to becoming the best twin or even sister in the world. She was loveable, fun, nice, smart, and just her smile, would make your whole entire day. That's all I actually remember about my family.

The next day was the same as the day before, SUPER DARN COLD! I found this cave that was very warm, and I was able to set up camp there for a month or so. Because of the cave, the cold was now the least of my problems. Being alone, on the other hand, had a huge toll on me. My mind just snapped and I turned really desperate to overcome my loneliness. At that exact same moment, I realized that I needed my sister back. She was the only person that could calm my nerves the right way. At that moment, I needed to find a way to get her back.

As desperate as I was, I tried many stupid things to try to get my sister back. I tried magic, which was what some people told me is real. I tried using this stone that looked like it could make wishes. I even tried to pretend she was there, which made me look like a strange person. None of these dumb and insane ideas, worked. This annoyed me so much, that I started yelling at myself.

"Why should I even try?!?" I screamed. "Why am I so dumb for trying to bring back, someone who's probably dead! I just wasted so much precious time that I could have used to go get some food from the river or finish setting up camp in my new cave! What a waste of time and energy!"

I yelled and yelled in till I finally worn my out. My anger was gone and I was too tired to do anything else, so I decided to call it a day. I went to my cave and laid down on the softest spot I could find. After the hour long nap, I woke up remembering something my mother told me 3 days before her and the rest of my family disappeared.

"Kidd, remember this and never forget it, ok. If you ever come across something that bothers you, or even stresses you out, and I'm not there to help you out, just simply ask the stars to help you. If they could help the darkest of nights light up with grace, then they could help you in your darkest situations. Not to be a bit cliché or anything, but all you need to do is believe, and your deepest wishes would come true."

The stars. The stars are the only way I could get my sister back. At the darkest of nights, when the stars light up in the sky, I will make my wish to bring my sister back. My father always told me not to cry, but this is just too much emotion for me to handle. Hopefully I would be able to see my sister again.

A few nights has passed, and the sky finally lit up with stars. The moon looked like a big ball of cheese in the sky because of how orange it looked. The process to wish for my sister back will be a pain, but it will all be worth it in the end.

I climbed the biggest tree I could find in the forest, which took me a total of about 5 minutes to climb. Then, I tried to keep my balance on the biggest branch I could find on that tree. I sat down on the branch, cut my own hand to provide DNA for the stars to begin the process faster, closed my eyes, and whispered to myself "Please stars do me this one favor and bring my sister back in one peace. I have some blood in my hand for you to begin the process. Do me this on favor, please." Once I've opened my eyes, the blood was gone and even the cut I got on my hand. The climbing made me super tired so, I decided to sleep the rest of the night.

Once I woke up, everything and I mean everything changed. The cold was gone and the weather turned warmer. The bears were out of hibernation and running around once more. The birds were back and began singing their average morning songs. All of this surprised me. What's going on here?

"Brother!" the mysterious girl said." You never told me we were playing hide in seek"

"Hello, who's there?" I asked curiously.

"It's me, Nova. Don't you remember me?"

"Oh my stars, I can't believe it's you!"

I couldn't believe my own two eyes. Everything about her was the same as what my sister had before she disappeared like the rest of my family. Her eyes were the only thing that changed though. Instead of the dark brown pupils she usually had, she had small stars in them and when I look into them I could see the whole entire galaxy. Her hair color changed from brown to purple. Her smile lit up like the sun. Everything about her was just perfect and unique.

That night, I looked up at the stars and closed my eyes once more. The stars were spelled in the words "Your Welcome". Ever since then, I've never felt so grateful. Everything was the way I wanted it to be. Thank you stars. I will never forget you.
