No One POV
Max stared fondly at a photo Chloe sent of Victoria and Max from the facetime.
It showed Max looking at them but in the background was Victoria looking at Max with a small grin and an expression Max has never known. It reminded her of when her mom was proud of her.
Max heard footsteps getting closer. They sounded bold and with purpose. Confidence radiating from them. Must be Victoria.
Victoria POV
Mom was right. Won't lie, she normally is.
I love Max. God saying it to her. I've said it to myself before, wrote it down, only to end up scribbling it out but still. This time I'll be saying it to her face. Will she reject me? Will she think I'm going too fast? Will she think I'm lying?
No. Stop overthinking this shit. You're Victoria fucking Chase and you're going to tell Maxine fucking Caulfield you love her.
I turn the corner into Max's room to see her staring at her phone with a smile tracing her lips until I see her head spring up. I close the door behind me. I don't feel like my mother just happening to walk by. Or my father for that matter.
"You okay Vic-" Max tried to start but caught up in my own goal I shut her up by grabbing her and pulling her into a kiss. We've kissed before but I want to her to feel what I feel towards her.
She kissed back but not long after pulled back with a questioning stare and small chuckle.
"You okay?" She asked in a soft voice. That same soft loving voice she always does when she thinks something's wrong.
"Maxine Caulfield I fucking love you." I breathe out. Feeling my chest tighten from anxieties but I don't know why but it loosened when she gave me this...look. Stare? I don't know what it was.
I looked into those big blue doe eyes and everything felt peaceful. She looked astonished and honestly I felt it.
"I love you, Victoria Chase." She held a grin. One of those grins that do the rest of the speaking instead.
Her grin spoke, 'You have no idea how long I've wanted to her you say that' and honestly I felt the same way.
Everything felt free in me for that instant. All those anxieties of her never loving me back. Even making me think back to when Rachel had to help calm me over taking her on a date. When I probably had nothing to worry about in the first place.
I just smiled resting my head onto hers. She looked at me but she looked happier at the sight of whatever face I held.
Max POV
Victoria Chase who was once known as the bitch of Blackwell. Now known as my girlfriend just said she loved me.
Now here she is resting her forehead onto mine with the biggest smile I've ever seen. You can see she's genuinely happy and I am too, I even saw tears come from her eyes that I wiped away.
I understand why her mom asked those questions now. Victoria must have dated people who never actually loved her. That's why she was so cold. Always protecting herself.
"You okay?" I ask holding her face a little back so I can see her.
She nodded and let out another smile.
"Wanna lay down?" I suggest. Honestly I don't know about you but anytime I cry whether I'm happy or not I'm ready to take a nap.
She nods her head and I lead her over to the bed and lay down with her.Chey POV
"I've never seen Victoria that happy, Arthur." I said holding my wine glass.
"Well by the way it sounds Max is an extremely nice girl." Arthur said holding his shot of whiskey.
We're both different but after all these years we still love each other. We weren't the most perfect family but we aren't horrible. Everybody and everything has it's flaws.
"So what do you think they're doing?" I ask with the raise of my eyebrow and a grin.
"I doubt they're doing that Chey. Let's go check on them." He says.
"80$ they're doing it." I bet.
"500 that they're not." He raised the stakes.
"Deal." I give a small shake of his hand as we walk silently down the hallway.
No noise from their door as we stand outside.
Of course being the nosy mother I am, I open the door a crack and see Victoria curled up to Max on the bed. Full clothed and asleep.
"Told you." I heard Arthur whisper to me with triumph in his voice."Whatever." I retort.
They look so cute together.
"Reminds me of us." Arthur whispers and I bite back a smile.
I still remember it like it was yesterday when I was in my youth.
I was 22 while Arthur was 23, we had met in college of course. The only reason we had met was because they forced me to go deliver papers to his side of campus.
Had a couple of hang outs until one of those turned into a date.
No One POV
Arthur and Chey had left awhile ago as Max and Victoria laid in the bed completely content and asleep.
Victoria awoke though before Max and stared at her.
She saw Max's phone was still open to a photo and she picked it up carefully to see and it was from Chloe's facetime when they were in the car on the way to the house.
Chloe had sent it. Chloe does care about their relationship which made Victoria smile.Thinks were turning out okay.
