Chapter Thirty-Three:
Vaughn eyed the envelope that sat in the middle of the table, he couldn't believe that he had signed the papers. Especially, not after he finally came to terms with what he wanted and what he wanted had just walked away from him with a sad smile on his face.
If only he had the balls to reach out and tell Athiss everything that he wanted to hear, then maybe things would be alright. As he ran his fingers through his hair, he sighed loudly he didn't care what anyone else thought anymore. He was Bisexual but leaned more towards men, okay not men Athiss. Honestly, he was sick and tired of allowing the man he loved to walk away from him.
Sometimes he felt like all he did was give up.
And that was something that he had vowed not to do before coming here, that he wouldn't allow the man to walk away. That he'd fight for it. Eyeing the envelope once again he wondered how this thing got here in the first place. The envelope that he had brought had the letter that Athiss had written all that time ago. He wanted to ask about it.
Yet again, here he was hiding in his own head instead of chasing after the man that he wanted and needed. Quickly lifting his head up Vaughn stared straight ahead, but before he could think about what he was doing he smacked his hands hard against his face making his body jerk and bolt straight up.
He couldn't let Athiss walk away from him and out of his life, yet again. He fucked up once by letting the man go without a fight, but he be damned if he did it again. Only a damn fool would allow someone like Athiss to walk away not once, but twice.
And he knew that he was anything, but a fool.
Swiftly grabbing the envelope that lied face down on the table Vaughn pushed out the chair that he was sitting on and stood up. As he did he gently tucked the envelope under his arm and ran out of the restaurant not even caring how much of a fool of himself he was making. There was only one thing on his mind now and that was that if he allowed Athiss to leave out of his sight, he wasn't sure what that would entail for their future, or any future that he wanted with the man that he never seemed to able to forget.
No matter how much he tried.
He knew that admitting that to himself, meant that he wasn't ready to let this marriage go. At least not without a fight. Vaughn, knew that he always let Athiss cut him off time- and time again all without even getting to the heart of the situation. Which caused them to be in this never-ending battle of hurting and running.
He was honestly, sick of it. There wasn't much that irritated him, and made him hate himself. But this was one of these times. But one thing was for certain he would need to get to the heart of everything, and let it be torn open for the world - no for Athiss to see, and that scared him.
What if he would leave him, and this time for good? What if Athiss deemed him a loss cause, all because of things that even his little sister didn't know about? How could he rip off the band-aid and say: "This is me, take me as I am or leave me?"
