Dear Diary,
Ever since I've been put in here, I've had a lot of time to think, as you can imagine. One of the things I've thought about is society. In today's world, we are put into categories based on things we can't control, such as gender, class, race, sexuality, etc.
Each person's stars regarding these subjects rank people closest to the star. For instance, if our solar system was race, it would look like this to someone who was racist:
Mercury: white
Venus: half white/half Asian
Earth: half white/half Latino
Mars: half white/half black
Jupiter: Asian
Saturn: Other
Uranus: Latino
Neptune: African-American
Pluto: Middle EasternThey do that for everyone. With sexualities, with genders, with everything. Anything that can be classified is used against us. I guess that's how I ended up here. I'm different, so people like me are further away from the star of the mind.
And now, in this moment, I hear an empty silence around me. Wait, the silence is being interrupted by heels clicking. I know who that could be: my mother. Speaking of how I ended up here... Wait, it's okay. The clicking faded out. I'll live another day without the persecution of my family.
I know I'm different. I just didn't think society would resort to this; just because I think differently. We'll see how I turn out, I guess.
The most different galaxy of them all,
Emma
