A gunshot rang through the air, waking up the two sleeping girls. A bullet pierced through their window, shattering glass all over. They both screamed.
Claudia, the younger of the two and polar opposite, ran to her older sister, Odette.
Odette, who was 20 years old and had platinum blonde and green eyes was very different from her sister, Claudia. Claudia was 19 and had brown hair and dark, almost black eyes. You would never guess that the two were sisters.
"Are you alright?" She asked.
"I think so," Odette replied shakily, "Where's mama?"
"I believe she's still in her room,"
The girls ran into their mother's room, where she was still sound asleep.
"Mama!" Odette cried, shaking her.
"What is it my love?" Their mother answered worriedly.
"Mama, the troops have come to town," Claudia said.
"You two need to leave town immediately."
"What? Why?" Odette asked.
"Because it's not safe for you two to be here. Claudia and Odette, I love you so much darlings, and that is why you must leave without me,"
"I'm not going to go anywhere without you mama!" Odette said.
"You must. Go, live your lives and forget about me..."
"Oh mama, how could we ever forget you? You've made us everything that we are today," Claudia said wrapping her arms around her mother.
Odette ran over to her and hugged her as well, "I love you.."
"I love you too."
"Odette, we have to go.." Claudia said slightly desperately and placed her hand on her sister's shoulder.
"Alright," Odette nodded.
They ran back into their room, which they shared, grabbed their bags and stuffed as much clothing as they could fit. The girls ran out of their small home and to the stables where their horses were. They placed the saddles on their backs and rode out into the night.
