---Lucy's POV---
We all stood there gaping, Natsu Dragneel... taken down with one hit? Gray's expression had twisted into something that looked like anger.
"You... bastard...I was planning on killing him!" He roared, and used his Ice-floor, which Venom sidestepped to avoid easily.
A smile twinged at his lips, and he lifted his arms in embrace. "Oh please, you're not even who I'm here for." His eyes flickered to me, and I felt fear shoot throughout my body.
Gray's eyes turned murderous, and he raced toward Venom. "Ice Devil's Zeroth, Long Sword!" A pitch black colored ice sword appeared in his hands, and he slashed down, his sword hitting the ground where Venom had once been.
"Tsk, tsk, really, Ice-boy, I'd rather not kill you!" Venom's eyes gleamed with amusement, and he snapped his fingers, causing fiery chains to wrap themselves around Gray's arms and legs, anchoring him to the ground.
His eyes glimpsed at me, and Gray struggled. "Lucy! No! Run!"
"I can't leave you!" I cried back, and suddenly I was pinned against the wall with flame staples. It burnt, and tears streamed down my face. A large bow of purple flames appeared in Venom's hands, and he cocked it back, a powerful burst of energy forming. I found myself struggling against the flames, but the attempt only increased the pain of the burns.
He licked his lips, and grinned down at me. "Seems like I finally get to finish you off, Ice Princess!"
Venom shot the bow, and the purple light flickered closer and closer to me. I was going to die. A beam of light blinded me, but when it stopped I let out a cry. Gray was standing there, the arrow implanted right through his spine, and blood trickling slowly down his back. Fat tears formed under my eyes, and Gray started laughing. He laughed. Gray fell towards the ground, and hit it, hard. That's when I noticed that an ice sword was impaled through Venom's chest. His eyes were wide, and he coughed out blood, falling over as well.
"Damn you.. Gray..." Venom barely managed, then went silent.
The flames holding me against the wall disappeared, and I raced to Gray, who had closed his eyes.
"Gray!" I screeched, and his eyes fluttered open. Gray's pupil's softened, and he chuckled once again, blood spurting out of his mouth. "Stop! Why are you laughing?"
"I love you Lucy..." His tone turned faded, and I shook him, sobbing.
"Don't you leave me, Gray! Why'd you even do it? WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST LET ME DIE?" I brought my bloody hands to my face, and Gray lifted his arm painfully, wiping the tears from under my eyes.
"Sometimes, you just have to make a sacrifice for the one you love." He pulled my head to his, and pressed his lips against mine. My lips quivered under his, and I tasted the blood that rested in his mouth as I put my tongue into it. I kept on kissing him. Eventually, the pressure stopped, and that's when I realized he was dead.
Gray was dead.
"GRAY!" I screeched, and flung myself against him, my tears soaking his skin as they dribbled onto him. I lifted myself off of him, and broke out into deeper sobs. I have no idea how long I cried, but I couldn't stop. A hand was placed on my shoulder, and I glanced up to see Luke standing over me, sympathy written all over his face. The others stood a little awkwardly behind me, and I sniffled once again, not even bothering to wipe the blood off of my lips.
"We should probably get going, Lucy," Luke murmured, and I nodded, then stopped.
"We can't just leave him here," I retorted, but Luke sighed.
"Of course not, I'll bring him back--" He started, but I interrupted him sharply.
"No, I'll bring him back." I put Gray over my already aching shoulders, and started limping home. The others followed reluctantly, and when we finally got back to Magnolia, I buried Gray. We had a funeral, and I broke down in front of all of them, having to leave for a moment. I then went back to Gray's house. Pausing by the doorknob, I wondered how much different it was going to be without him. Shaking the thought out of my head, I opened the door, and Taylor came running at me, ramming into my arms. I lifted her in my arms, and she giggled. That girl sure could make one feel better. My eyes crinkled a little happily in the corners.
"Mommy! Mommy!" She chirped, and I glanced down at her. "Where's Daddy?" She asked, looking around my shoulder, expecting him to be right behind me. The weight of the world seemed to crash down on me. Tears threatened to break, but I had to keep them in for Taylor. Everything almost broke right then. It all almost shattered.
"Daddy won't be coming back."
