When I arrived at Niall's apartment a few days later, I heard music as I came through the front door, but it wasn't the bands that he liked or even played on a stereo, and I followed the sound of a guitar to the bedroom, where he was sitting on it, picking at the strings of a guitar.

"I didn't know you played the guitar" I said, and he looked up, smiling when he saw me, and then he motioned for me to sit in front of him, which I did.

"My mother was pretty musical, and she got me into all sorts of things"

I lingered on the word was, wondering if he was talking about his mother in general, or just her musical spirit, and both were some sort of disappointment.

"Like what?"

"Well, mostly guitar, some piano, and...vocals" he said, slightly embarrassed, but I found it nice, nothing really to be ashamed about, but then and again, I couldn't really imagine Niall singing either.

"Awesome, can you...demonstrate?" I asked, and he shrugged.

"You laughed last time"

I thought about the last time I had laughed at something Niall had done, and then I remembered.

"Only because you were embarrassed for nothing Niall, I like your glasses" I said, and he blushed a little, making me smile.

"Pleaseeee?" I asked, and he moved a little, uncomfortable at the idea, and I thought about how there was nothing nicer than Niall being shy, because it literally was the sweetest thing.

"Well, what song?" he asked, and I shrugged.

"Whatever song you want"

And he sighed, moving the guitar in his grip, and started to sing, and I couldn't believe it.

"Stay for tonight,

If you want to

I can show you

What my dreams are made of,

as I'm dreaming of your face

I've been away for a long time

Such a long time

And I miss you there

I can't imagine being anywhere else

I can't imagine being anywhere else but here"

He looked up to me, and I had a big smile on my face, a reaction to his voice, which honestly, if heaven were to be described in a sound, it would be that.

Blushing a little at my reaction, he was a little wobbly when he continued, but it was still beautiful, and he got a little more confident as he sung, looking to me as he sung in most parts, smiling as I did.

"How the hell did you ever pick me?

Honestly, I could sing you a song

But I don't think words can express your beauty

It's singing to me

How the hell did we end up like this?

You bring out the beast in me

I fell in love from the moment we kissed

Since then we've been history"

I was disappointed when he ended it there, and I clapped for him, as red as his face got as I did so, hanging his head slightly, tapping his fingers in his guitar.
