Chapter. 4

The drive home from the cemetery was silent the whole way home except for my mother and father whispering to each other and Mia making little sobbing noises. We got home, everyone still not saying a thing until my mother broke the silence , "I'll make our favorite diner for us tonight to lighten our spirits" she entered the kitchen , "I'll help too mom" said Mia rushing off after her. So there I was alone with my father , "Dad" he turned to me with a stern face  ,"what have I told you about calling me that" I looked down afraid he might make a move , "sorry sir it's just-" , "speak up have all my teachings been for nothing" he yelled ,"sorry it's just what are we going to do with the estate" he looked out the window in our living room. "Well it's yours now so I say you move in tomorrow" I gave him a surprised expression ,"but sir I'm only 14 I can't live on my own now" he gave me a cold stare ,"you will not talk back you will go there tomorrow and live there till I say so"  it's time I stand up for myself I'm only 14 I can't live on my own yet ,"sir you can't send your youngest daughter out of the house and just drop her in a new environment just like that don't you care about me".

There was a sickening slapping sound and a pain on my cheek, I put my hand to my cheek and winced in pain , "you will not talk back to your father young lady, and don't you dare give me that tone!" My mother came rushing in scared of what might of happened ,"what is happening in here"  ,"nothing mom I'm going to my room to pack" I ran up the stairs and could hear my mother try to follow but is stopped by my father. I close the door and slide down to the floor, tears filling my eyes about to fall. I get up and sit on my bed my cheek pulsating from the pain, my phone starts to ring and I pick it up, it's Amy probably worried about me, I answered it "Hey Kenzie are you ok what happened" I hold back my tears as I try to explain the death of my grandfather ,"damn Kenzie I'm so sorry are you ok" I feel tears begin to crawl down my face ,"yeah I'm fine just a little sad but I'll tell you more when I see you at school ok" , "for sure, oh and Luna is coming back tomorrow so we will see her crazy ass" I smiled ,"yeah should be great to see her again". Luna was a new friend I had met because of Amy and she is probably one of the craziest and sweetest person you will ever meet. We said goodbye and hung up the phone, I got up and grabbed some bags from my closet and began to pack my things, by the time it was 2:00 am, I had finished packing and had missed diner, I couldn't leave cause somebody would hear me so I guess I'm starving tonight. I crawled into bed and went to sleep, hoping that tomorrow would be nicer.

My alarm goes off at 5:00 am and I rush to the bathroom to get ready, I took a shower, brushed my hair and put into a high ponytail, and did all my other morning things putting on a blue t-shirt and light blue jeans. Then I ran down the stairs with my backpack hanging off one of my shoulders, I got to the door when "Did you pack your things yet" I turned to see my father with a frown on his face and arms crossed "Yes it's all done" he nodded and I headed out the door. As I closed the door with a black jacket in one hand Luna's car pulled up to the driveway .Amy rolled down the window in the back seat ,"Hey Kenzie get in" I walked to the passengers side and and sat down then closed the door.  Amy and Luna and I talked the whole drive to school about what happened at school when I left, which wasn't a lot just people telling rumors of why I left and all that shit.

We entered the school like normal and started walking towards our lockers, thank god they were next to each other, we put our stuff away and started walking towards our first class, History, I was ok at history not the best like my sister but our teacher Miss. King was nice. We were talking when I heard laughing from behind me, I turned around to see Lysett and her gang of friends looking around at everyone in the hall and just laughing, I kept walking but was stopped when someone grabbed my shoulder, me and my friends stopped and turned to see it was Lysett with a smirk on her face. "Well if it isn't the loner squad" I rolled my eyes and started to turn around but I was met by the rest of Lysett's group, Amy and Luna guarded me so I wouldn't be attacked, Luna stood in front of Lysett ,"Look Lysett this isn't a good time right now for Kenzie can you just leave her alone" Lysett laughed ,"there is no way i'm not taking the opportunity to tease you losers".  Luna's face started to turn red with anger "Look here you, Kenzie's Grandfather just died and she doesn't want to deal with your shit right now" Lysett's face turned from a smirk to a frown in a second ,"oh goodness I'm so sorry Kenzie I didn't know" tears started to sting my eyes as memories of yesterday flashed back in my mind. I came back when Amy put her hand on my shoulder ,"it doesn't matter Lysett you can't treat us like this forever" we turned and started to walk away to our class and no one stopped us thank god.
