In the dead of night, the icy wind of the North blew the curtains inward from an open window. A young girl, no older than thirteen, was quietly reading her favorite series when she should have been asleep. If her parents came in and seen the window open with her wide awake reading, a single candle lighting the tiny room, they would have killed her. She didn't mind it though, they would never bother to check on her.
Her parents loved the young lady they've raised, but she always got into trouble, not to mention her manners, which needed much improvement. She looked up as the cold wind blew the curtains back, casting an elegant shadow that danced on the stone wall. Her thoughts took her to a ball, one much like the ones she reads about. She watched from a crowd noble men and ladies that danced with each other. Each pair in sync with another. A young man, perhaps a few years older than her, lightly stepped towards her and bowed. "May I have this dance?" His voice echoing through her mind as she nodded. She gleamed a smile as he lead her to the dancefloor. They moved in a delicate medieval dance that has been lost to the ages. As the music stops, the young man leans in to kiss the maiden. Right before they had touched, an unnatural breeze swept through her room, sending her away from the dream and back to reality.
"I must have fell asleep." Her English tone was audible as she spoke. She looked out the window expecting the sun to be shining through, but it was only the pure light of the moon. The leaves of a tall maple tree rustled as the frosty wind blew stronger. She pulled a light blue robe on and stepped over to the window. The wind blew back her messy blonde curls. A smile formed on her lips as she closed her eyes and lifted her chin, feeling the wind surround her as if it were creating a storm.
She opened her bright blue eyes and sat in the window, staring at the beautiful landscape. The wind had died down, allowing warm air to take back it's control. The young woman really wanted to hop out the window and leave the familiar scenery, but her parents would find her quickly. 'I'll leave tomorrow. I'll pack my things later, hide it and then leave when I get the chance.' She thought to herself with a nod.
She stood up and closed the windows, latching them shut. She walked over to her bed and sat down. Right before she blew out the melting candle, she looked at the window with a faint smile."Tomorrow... I will see what others see. I will explore unknown territories, and make friends." She sighed happily and blew out the candle, pulling her single wool blanket over herself. It took a few moments for her to finally sleep, but she soon went out cold.
