The victim Levi tried hard to save died.
Unfortunately, he could only have a quick glance at the corpse before the investigation department arrived. People from the streets might be chickens, but at least they were observant enough to call for help.
Thinking about it, if The Midnight Princess were to stay with him for a few more minutes, the killer could have been caught. Sadly, she seemed too calculative to make any sorts of mistakes. However, this entire night had turned out weirdly wrong. Not only did Levi see it like that, everyone, the whole Clockwell seemed to think so.
As soon as detectives, officers, doctors, anyone needed at a crime scene arrived, the dead man was being observed and Levi was taken care of. He was placed on the corridor where he wanted to drag the victim in order to save him. Just thinking about it, it pained him. The thought of failure. It placed itself as a mixture of bitter and pain upon his heart, but for some odd reason, it wasn't that affective.
His mind was the problem right now.
The place soon began to be crowded with all sorts of people, from investigators examining the body and surroundings, officers securing the place while someone was asked to treat Levi. However, before anyone could stop it, the outside of the pub became a chaos field. From men driven by curiosity to reporters, the place was instantly surrounded. The phenomenon wasn't anything new, whenever there was a victim found dead, some would always want to stick their noses into the matter.
But that's the thing – whenever someone was found dead. Levi was still breathing. Moreover, he was more interesting to the public's eyes. He, after all, was the first one to survive the Killer's attack. Strangely, even he himself had no idea why.
The outside became stormy as voices of reporters were blending all together in an annoying shout. From the staircase he was sitting, Levi could see it all – the eyes searching for his figure, investigators glancing at him with serious looks while a young doctor tried to take care of his face. Levi didn't like being touched by other people's dirty hands, but he was too far away with his mind to actually care. The bruises on his face were annoying, the wound on his wrist was like fire poured onto his hands, but he couldn't make himself notice all the pain. Whatever was circling in his mind was more important and confusing.
''Just let me through, please!'' a voice got separated from all the shouting, the only voice Levi could detect. His eyes diverted from where he was previously staring towards the pub's entrance door. There, an investigator was throwing his shadow over a smaller silhouette. Her collar of the coat was pulled upwards, protecting her from the midnight wind while also making her look mysterious. Her light hair was pulled behind both ears, a sign that was screaming irritation along with her fierce look in her eyes. It was a first, seeing her that serious instead of reddish or smiling. Though, it wasn't that big of a surprise, since the man blocking her from entering wasn't going easy on her.
''I'm sorry Mrs. Petra, but you know the policy – reporters aren't allowed to enter the crime scene while the investigation is ongoing.''
''I know, but I'm here with a different reason. Just – ''
The man was preparing to forcefully show Petra to leave, but then Levi finally decided to break from silence.
''Excuse me officer,'' Levi said aloud, getting almost everyone's attention, ''but can you let the Mrs. Petra in?''
There was silence, but along the lines everyone's faces were radiating with confusion. The investigator by the door gave Levi a sharp look before replying: ''I apologize, but due to the policy –''
