Port Solaria, Mewni
9 years ago...A young boy stood silently beside his mother, smiling widely with brown eyes shimmering with glee.
"Mom, is Dad really coming home?" he asked.
"Of course! He even sent us a letter about it!" the mother replied. "And when Dad sends a letter..?"
"He is very serious 'bout it." the boy gave a reassuring nod.
The mother laughed at the cute, little antic of her son.
The boy looked around the dock while humming a very familiar tune from beyond the seas.
"Yo-ho, yo-ho. Never say we die.." he sang quietly, reminding himself that the tune is a chant that can be heard through the seven seas.
He listened intently at the soft, splashing waves of the seas. The slow, back and forth movement of the ships with towering masts. The gentle hum of the salty night air he was accustomed with.
The boy sighed. He truly loved the sea.
Out beyond the distance, a silhouette stood straight on the dark waters, slowly coming closer to the shore.
"Mom! Mom!" the boy called after noticing it. "They're here!"
"They are." the mother smiled.
The boy giggled in delight as the behemoth became illuminated with moonlight, the air was suddenly filled with muffled, but loud voices.
The boy stared at it with awe.
"The Dawn Voyager." he mumbled.
The man-of-war stood sixty-two metres long with an alabaster-colored hull carrying three towering masts. The beak held a wooden sculpture of a mermaid with a warm smile on her face, her arms wide open for further voyages.
On the poopdeck, behind the wheels, stood the boy's father, carefully manning the ship.
The empty port's numbers suddenly grew and started fixing up the dock for the incoming ship.
"Dad!" the boy couldn't help but shout and wave his hands, hoping that his father would see him.
The ship came in and there the port started to get a little noisy. The captain's first mate barked orders to the sailors as the white square sails were raised and ropes were being settled down.
The boy was about to run to where the gangplank was lowered until a sailor at the port stopped him.
"Lower the anchor!" he heard his father yell before hearing the loud splash of the metal anchor hitting the murky waters.
The sailor then let go of him and the boy ran next to the lowering gangplank.
As soon as the wood hit the dock, the boy ran up into the ship before any of the sailors came down and ran to his father, whom was talking to his first mate about something.
"Dad!" he screamed as he came to embrace his father.
"Marco!" his father said. "How's it going, little guy?"
"Great! Hey, Uncle Rick!"
His father's first mate laughed and ruffled young Marco's hair.
"Hello, lil' Diaz! Nice seeing you again. Say, wanna hear about sirens?"
Marco widened his eyes in fear.
"Knock it out, Enrique. You're scaring the kid."
"Yeah, yeah. See you tomorrow, Rafael. I'll come visit if I can." Enrique said with a smile before leaving.
Marco watched as the last sailors cleaned up the decks before following down his father to the docks where his mother stood with a teary-eyed smile.
"Rafael!" Marco's mother ran to her husband. "Oh, I've missed you so much."
"I told you last time, Angie. I WILL come home."
Angie Diaz sniffed and planted her hands on her hips.
"Well, I wouldn't be worried if you hadn't left us that night without a note whatsoever. What were you thinking?"
"It was a late notice. I had to leave." Rafael scratched the back of his head.
"..Late notice.. Who knows what could've happened to you! You could've been attacked or something."
"Look, Angie. I'm here, safe and sound. No harm done. Let's go." Rafael said wearily, showing his fatigue for sailing for nine months.
Angie harumpped and turned to Marco.
"Come on, Marco. Let's go home."
Marco smiled and ran beside his mother, holding on the hands of his parents.
"Mom, can we have pancakes and eggs for breakfast?" Marco asked, ready to make puppy eyes if she said no.
"Sure thing, dear."
"Mom, can we have rum for breakfast?" Rafael asked, pouting.
"No, dear. You're not my son, you weirdo."
Rafael laughed and took Marco to his arms, saying: "I'm just kidding. Geez."

Sup!
I know. The prologue's prreettyy stupid. I want to add more, if you ask me, but I wrote this out of sheer boredom around 2 in the morning (I finished around 6.) and my brain was out of ideas for words to write.
So, yeah. About the fanfic. This was just pretty much inspired by a fanart that I saw (And also inspired by all the Gravity Falls Pirate Au fanfic that I've read). And then, it just sparked in my head.
I have no idea how a ship works. So, please bear for my lack of knowledge. I had to search for info about men-of-war (which led me to the PotC wikia, which I read all night instead of searching, but I learned a thing or two).
For now, I'll give you this lil' ol' prologue before we move on to the next one.
So, see you in the next chapter!
P.S. The port name may seem familiar to some people so, credits to jgss0109! Your awesome artworks and its story inspired me to give names to Mewni's ports.
P.P.S. I feel retarded writing this.
