He smiled as he pushed his staff easily into the seemingly solid ground, disappearing into nothingness. As he reappeared in front of Sheerak, the monster began to fall again, and the wolves took their leap. Then the monster landed. A wave of force spread out from it, like ripples from a pebble, throwing back everything they touched. But the wave never got that far. As the wolves hit ground, the Goblins stepped forwards from behind Tralza and Sheerak and the lions circled round to face the beast. Tharamite threw his staff forwards, and a ripple of his own shot out of it, meeting the monster's on all sides and neutralizing the attack.
Catching the beast by surprise, Tralza leapt forwards roaring, with the lions behind him and the Goblins took their shot. Everything hit at once. Six arrows punctured the creature's hard skin, each of them tipped with poison. The lions formed into a wall, and barreled into the monster front-on. Just before impact, Sheerak turned, and saw a wolf beside her. Her heart lifted as she brought herself back to the battle, and she unsheathed her claws. Impact.
The creature staggered backwards, and then fell. Its massive body began to swing backwards slowly, and then faster as it neared the ground. Tharamirite and the Goblins cleared the shadows as the mage threw a bitter glance at them.
As the creature began to stand, a group of cats leapt on top of it. These were the cats of earth, and they bound it with strong rope. The creature was defeated.
Or so they thought.
It started glowing a dark shade of red and black, and then it began to well up, as if its body were inflating with energy. Tharamirite's eyes flashed, and he shouted,
"RUN! It's a sorcerer!" Then it blew. Shards of blue and red shattered everywhere, destroying the ground. A tall, cloaked figure stepped out from the smoke, madly firing beams of red. "Don't touch those!" Tharamite banged his staff on the ground, and a transparent shield began to form around all the clans.
And the true battle began.

Now for an extensive explanation to the length and copyright issues (whew):
**This is the end of the short sample. I did not post the full story because 1) it is a work in process 2) I did not wish to share the full contents of my book freely BEFORE it is published and 3) I'm beginning the query process to find an agent. I hope to someday have my book in bookstores, and I appreciate each and every one of you who SUPPORTS that goal by following me on twitter (@toshirodude), YouTube (Toshiro Hitsudude) and WATTPAD! 😄
Thank you for reading!😀**
Before I leave, I'd like to acknowledge my friends, Samuel and Fred (froggo485), my teachers, my mum, my sister, and, of course, Erin Hunter.
Goodbye.
