Mia glanced at Carter through the mirror while he was helping her to curl her hair. He wasn't happy with her choice of outfit, but he wasn't against it either. Hazel asked her to wear her black satin dress that night, and Carter wasn't a fan of the low cut on the back of the dress although he admitted that she looked hot in it. Mia was pretty sure that the source of his problem was the fact that he couldn't join them at the party.

"What time will the party end?" Carter asked as he switched off the hair curler and leaned back against the wall to check her out.

"Carter, it's a party--"

"When are you going to start calling me pretty names?"

"Carter is a pretty name."

"Other people would die to call me babe or honey, and then here's my girlfriend calling me by my government name."

Mia scoffed. She pursed her lips to blend her lipstick and turned around to look at him. "Make sure there's no other people, or else your government name will be prettily carved in cursive font on a tombstone, babe."

"Gosh, you're so hot," he smirked, holding her waist as she leaned in to kiss him. "I wish I can come with you, but maybe next time."

"Yeah, maybe," Mia hummed, "I won't drink too much, and I'll be home safe before you know it. I promise."

"No, just have fun. Drink as much as you want, I don't mind. I'll pick you up if you're drunk. Just make sure you call me and not the cab."

"Got it," Mia nodded.

"Also, call me if there are boys there."

"I promise," Mia chuckled softly and kissed him again. Carter hummed approvingly when she parted her lips, and the kiss grew deeper. Mia broke the kiss when her phone rang and she picked it up while Carter trailed kisses down her neck. He got on one knee and lifted her dress up.

"Hey, I'm five minutes away. Get ready." Hazel told her.

"Take your time," Mia's lips parted before she could finish her sentence as Carter yanked her thong down to her knees to kiss her. "I'll see you in a few," Mia hummed before ending the call. She raked her fingers through Carter's hair and tugged gently as she let out a moan.

"I'm going to spell my name on you so you'll remember me," Carter said as he kissed the inside of her thigh, grazing his teeth against her skin before going back to her nether region.

"Oh, fuck me...!" Mia gasped softly as she threw her head back while her body arched forward against him. She can feel him literally spelling his name on her sex like he meant it.

Carter finished up with a kiss before pulling her thong up again. He stood up, sliding one of his knees up between her legs while pinning her hips against the sink counter.

"... Okay?" He smirked.

"What?" She huffed, finding it hard to focus when all her blood was rushing to her sex, probably disappointed that Carter didn't keep going.

"I said," he leaned forward and whispered into her ear, "Have fun at the party, puppy."

Mia sighed as soon as she heard honking from outside the house. Carter kissed her forehead and hummed, "I'll get the door. Take your time and come out when you're ready."

"Great," Mia mumbled to herself as she put on her lipstick again. Now she will be haunted by thoughts of him.

"So, how are things between you and Carter?" Hazel asked. She drank her beer and looked at the people hanging out by the pool. She sneaked away from the crowd and head upstairs to one room's balcony with Mia for some privacy so they can talk.

"It's nice," Mia shrugged, then she couldn't help but to grin like a fool, "I mean it's good knowing one person is staying in my life."

"It's the honeymoon phase," Hazel rolled her eyes. She saw the discouraged look on Mia's face and chuckled, "But Carter's a good guy. Trust me, you've found a keeper."

"I know, right? How the hell did I get myself a guy like that?" Mia scoffed.

"At least you found someone who wouldn't simply give up on you," Hazel wiped her mouth, then took another sip.

"Is everything okay?" Mia asked. It was the first time in a long while that she saw Hazel upset.

Hazel shook her head, then she looked at Mia, "I think I'm pregnant."

Mia was too stunned to think of a proper response other than: "What?"

"I don't know," Hazel sighed, "I had a one night stand with a stranger, and now I'm five weeks late."

"Why are you still drinking?" Mia instinctively reached for Hazel's hand when the girl tried to take another sip of her beer. "Did you get checked?"

"No, I'm too scared," Hazel chuckled nervously. "I'm probably not pregnant. It's just... hormones."

"Haze, please - you know better about hormones," Mia pointed out. She held out her hand and Hazel stared at it. "Let's get one thing cleared from our worries before you take another sip."

Hazel handed over her beer bottle to Mia's hand and reached into her pocket, "I did bring pregnancy test kit. I figured you'd force me to take it."

"Huh. It didn't even get to the forcing part. I didn't even have to force you to do anything."

"Okay," Hazel rolled her eyes. "Fine. I was scared. This party was just an excuse for me to take you out to accompany me."

"You could've called and I would take a flight to be there with you."

"It's not you I'm worried about, but Carter. That guy wouldn't let me have alone time with you," Hazel pointed out.

Mia couldn't deny it even if she tried. Ever since Carter asked her out, he would join them whenever they hangout. He didn't even have to ask. It was almost as if he replaced the void Aiden created after the breakup.

"Wait," Mia sat on the edge of the bathtub while Hazel was seated on the toilet after taking the test. "Have you thought about... Like... Do you have plans...? If it comes back positive?"

"I'm going to freak the fuck out."

"Huh."

"I mean..." Hazel pondered, staring at the test kit which was placed upside down just so they wouldn't see the result until they're ready. "I hate to admit it but that guy was hot. I can't even imagine the genes this baby will hold."

Mia chuckled. She held Hazel's hand as it was apparent that the girl was nervous. She was pale and her fingers were cold.

"Jokes aside - I think I'm going to keep it," Hazel shrugged, "You know I love kids. I was crying the other day when you told me about that kid you met at the park. I don't even know what she looks like."

"Like an angel," Mia scoffed.

"They all do," Hazel nodded. "But at the same time, I'm fucked if I'm pregnant. I don't think I'm ready... But if it's positive, then I'm ready to wing it."

"I second any decision you make, Haze. You know better about what's best for you," Mia said reassuringly.

"Fuck, I'm so nervous," Hazel sighed as she reached for the kit. "If it's negative, promise me you'll join me play beer pong downstairs."

"Deal," Mia nodded. Mia hugged her as they stared at the kit in her hand.

"Here goes my future," Hazel whispered softly as she flipped the kit.

And beer pong happened right after.

Mia stepped away from the crowd after a few cups of beer and she took out her phone. She noticed some guys have joined the party and called Carter as promised. Mia looked over her shoulder as she called Carter, just to check on Hazel who was obviously drunk.

"Boyfriend 911 - what's your emergency?" Carter asked as soon as he picked up the phone. "Are those male voices I hear?"

"Yup. I think it's time for you to pick us up," Mia said, "I'm worried Hazel will start pole dancing soon."

"Stay still and camouflage as a tree, I'll be right there. If I see any guy near you, I'll count him as a threat, and I'm throwing hands."

"Okay, I'll stand still." Mia replied and Carter ended the phone call. She kept an eye on Hazel while standing by the gate. She wondered whose house was it, and if there's a chance that Hazel just crashed into the party without an invitation.

That was when a group of guys walked through the gate. One of them smirked at Mia and casually threw an arm over her shoulder and dragged Mia along with them. Mia slipped out of his arm and stepped aside when they got to the beer pong table.

"Let's go," Mia grabbed Hazel's arm.

"Hey, let's play another round," the guy reached for Mia's arm, and Hazel was quick to swat it.

"Don't be rude!" She slurred on her words and staggered a little. Hazel pointed at the guy, "You're at an all girls' night party... So you don't have balls?"

The guy scoffed as his friends giggled at the joke. Mia noticed that he clenched his jaw for a second.

"Or are they micro?" Hazel added.

Mia wanted to laugh, but she figured their safety comes first. "Okay, that's enough--"

"I can show you," the guy stepped forward and grabbed Hazel's arm.

"Hands off, bud." A threatening voice interjected, and they looked around to find Carter standing a few feet away just staring at them. "While I'm talking nicely," Carter added. His threat doubled thanks to his tattoos and the fact that he looked like he might have criminal records in the past.

Mia's jaw almost dropped. It's either the alcohol was hitting, or he simply look too hot despite wearing the most casual outfit he possess - a navy shirt and a grey sweatpants.

But that's besides the point.

Carter glanced at her with his piercing gaze and nodded, "Are you okay, baby?"

"Yeah, I'm baby," Mia gasped breathlessly. She gulped and took Hazel to Carter's side.

"Do you want to fight?" Carter asked, frowning at the guy who seemed to have trouble moving on from their encounter. He looked away and chugged down a bottle of beer. "That's what I thought. Be careful who you touch next."

"That's enough, let's go," Mia grabbed his arm and pulled him out of that place.

"Damn, that went smoothly," Carter whispered as they walked away. "I was afraid that he would square up and fight me."

"Well, what if he did?" Mia asked.

"I will probably lose," Carter muttered, "I don't fight."
