I did the only thing I knew how to do; remain silent and still. If I acted up now or refused, the beatings would be much, much worse. I walked upstairs with Ms. Drew following closely behind. I walked over to my small duffle and put in the small amount of clothes I had. I was tiny for my age so finding clothes that looked thirteen was literally impossible. All of my clothes come from the kids section so they look like clothes for a seven year old, but as long as I have something to wear I’m good.
Ms. Drew sat beside me on my bed, “Em-Rose, just try to get to know them before making any assumptions.”
I nodded my head slowly. She walked out and allowed me to finish packing. I placed my old doll in the duffle when there was a knock at the door.
A man with blonde hair came in my room, “Are you ready, Love?”
I didn’t move the slightest bit. He got the point and walked over to pick up my duffle. He put his hand on the small of my back as I jumped. He looked at me with a sad expression and removed his hand. I walked slowly behind him down the steps.
The rest of the boys were talking to Ms. Drew.
“Goodbye, Em-rose.” She came in to give me hug as she whispered, “Give them a chance.”
Liam came closer to me and I tightened up. He placed his hand out for me to take it, but I refused. Ms. Drew walked me to their limo. WAIT WHAT? They have a limo! I freaked out. . . in my head.
The boys climbed in the limo like it was absolutely nothing at all. I climbed in between Zayn and Liam.
“Em-rose, we live in England, so we have to head to the airport and fly there.”
No! Really? I thought we were going to walk there!
I simply nodded my head.
“Are you hungry?” Liam asked
I shook my head no as he sighed and turned away.
“Em-rose, you can talk to us. We won’t hurt you.”
Ha! They all say that! Well guess what? I don’t believe you!
“Em-rose? Em-rose?” Zayn waved his hand in my face as I flinched, “Oh, sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Ugh. Great job, Em-rose! You have managed to make yourself look weak five minutes after you met these people! Well actually it was like thirty minutes ago. Shut up, head!! Shouldn’t we be at the airport by now?
As if on cue we drove by the Jacksonville city airport right by the creepy medusa statue. (Yes, there is a medusa statue at the airport. Not kidding. Look it up).
We pulled up in the big circle where people were unloading their cars. Screaming was coming from every direction. People were pounding on the windows with their fists. Signs were held up saying ‘marry me Louis’ and ‘Kiss me Zayn’. I looked at the boys fear clearly showing on my face. We stepped out of the van to hear screaming girls all around us. Everyone stared at me with worried expressions and I just stared right on back.
I was terrified; scratch that. I was about to pee myself.
“Em-Rose, stay close to Zayn. Ok?”
I nodded my head. The boys stepped out of the car and as the door opened the screams got louder. I was about 99% sure that was absolutely impossible. Zayn stepped out first sending me a nervous glance. I followed also stepping close. People were clawing at me and screaming in my ear. I was so scared that I actually grabbed Zayn’s hand for all of my life.
He looked down at me as tears brimmed in my eyes. Then he did something that I least expected, but was extremely thankful for. He bent down and swung me onto his hip as I clung onto him for dear life. I started shaking and full on crying. I buried my head in his shoulder as people grabbed at us. The screams came to a sudden stop as I felt cold air surround me.
