"Hello?" I said with the aggravation evident in my voice.
"Nickel! Thank goodness you answered! I left my name tag on the table and I'm running late to work! Can you drive over to the supermarket and give it to me?" my mother exclaimed in her usual loud telephone voice.
"Yes mother." I said in a sarcastic tone, "and you don't have to yell I can hear you just fine."
"Cut the shit Nik I don't need your attitude. I'll give you money for Starbucks." mom said with exasperation evident in her voice.
"Fine. Fine. I'm on way." I say with an exaggerated sigh. Pushing her buttons is one of the few joys I have in life.
As I make my way to my old baby blue jeep I keep replaying how today should have went. I should not be driving to the only store that takes less than an hour to get to.
I hate my life. I really do. This was not how it was supposed to go. I should be in college. If only my father hadn't gotten a demotion. If only he hadn't slept with his secretary. If only I didn't catch him. I want to tell my mother but it would brake her. She's fragile. I've always had to be the strong one. I just want a break. Just to get away for a little while. I'm just glad hell has Starbucks.
