I lean down and touch him "I think I broke him." I said without any emotion.

A head appeared at my shoulder looking down and simply nodded. "You are doing a great job, Layla."

I turned around fast and looked him square in the eye, "You don't control me!" I screech.

In his low menacing voice he whispers in my ear "Yes, I do."

I feel him push me down, to the ground. "Clean up this mess before you go."

I let out a sigh of relief when he finally disappears. I am down to the boy again, I hated my job, I hated what I did and most of all I hated the boy who met me at my window every night since I turned fourteen, telling me I didn't have to be like this, there was always a choice, between light and dark. I get up to leave, to get a place in mind where someone wouldn't find his body when I hear a very low whisper "Layla?"

I turn around to find the boy I broke up and well! I stared at him in shock. No one has ever gotten up and lived before, no one! If the Darkness found out then it would be the death of me! Oh, wait I already am dead.

"Who are you?" Even though I knew, he was marked, that mean I knew everything about him. I just didn't know how he knew me, I just know that he is the boy from my window and that is why he was dead.

"I am here to help you, Layla, I know who you are and I am here to save you!" he told me.

I just stared at him, blinking, not sure of how to respond.

The boy gets up and snaps his fingers, and the blood and he wound clean themselves up and disappear.

I back up more into the shadows trying to disappear, but he follows me, creating paths of light.

I start to get a shortage of breath, the brightness hurts. It weakens me, my powers growing weaker as the boy of light gets closer to me.

Finally, I find my voice, "Get away, your light is blinding!"

The boy just tilts his head, "You can see my light?"

"Yes! Now turn it off! It HURTS!" I scream as I fall to the ground in pain.

I am on the ground on all fours, when a feel a hand touch my back, the hand is very different from Darkness, and it burns. I fall face first to the ground trying to get the hand to stop. But the hand doesn't stop.

In a flash of bright light, I am in a new place still screaming in pain. The light hurts me, and there is nothing I can do about it because it also weakens me.

I hear voices through my pain, I catch "Blake, get her out of here, you are killing her by bringing her here."

With that, there is a flash of bright light again and I am somewhere dark, or at least darker than the last place I was.

"Layla, you can stop screaming."

I don't stop, it still hurts. I don't think the pain will ever go away. I close my eyes pleading the pain to leave me.
