Dear journal,
Scott really made me feel like a child. But, like, in a good way. I felt like a giddy little girl who was obsessed with Justin Bieber or something, but instead of Justin Bieber, it was Scott. Does that make me ridiculous? God, I feel ridiculous.
-M--
Dinner was going well. Everyone seemed to be involved in a conversation. Well, everyone except me. Scott and Avi were having a normal conversation, while I just sat by them, listening. I watched Scott as he talked, watching the way his jawline moved each time a different word flew out of his mouth. Watching him kept me distracted from his hand that rested on my thigh, because the thought of that made me want to explode. So I focused on every detail of his face instead.
"He's too busy eye-fucking you to respond to us," Avi said, which brought me out of my trance. I blinked once and looked at Avi. Scott chuckles at my reaction. "We said your name like four times, but someone seems to be a little preoccupied," he says. My face reddened slightly as I looked at Scott, who was smirking next to me.
"I was just...thinking," I say in an attempt to save myself. "You know, I just dozed off and my eyes just happened to be there, okay?" Avi shook his head with a smile. Scott leans down towards me.
"Quit lyin', you're makin' it worse for yourself," he says. My face only reddened more and I smacked his shoulder lightly. He laughed, lightly squeezing my thigh. I smiled and put a hand over his. If Avi, Esther, and Kevin could see our hands under the table right now, I think I'd die of embarrassment. "Anyways, would you be good with Avi's new man coming over after dinner?" Scott asks me.
"Why would I mind?" I ask. "Even if I did, it isn't my house, it's Avi's. It's his decision," I explain to them.
"You're cute, always overcomplicatin' things," Scott says with a smile. I only furrowed my eyebrows. "What he means, Avi, is that he ain't mind a bit, right, Mitch?"
"What do you mean, overcomplicating?" I question, my focus on Scott. He shakes his head and lightly pats my head.
"Shhh," he says. "Just sit here and look pretty," he continues.
"Is that all I'm good for? My looks?" I say, mainly to mess with him. His face softened immediately.
"What, no!" He says. "That is definitely not all you're good for, why would you say that? Do you really think that I think that? I'd never-" I cut him off by laughing. He looked confused.
"I'm messing with you," I say softly. "I like how defensive you got, though," I tell him. His face reddened, and I was accomplished that I wasn't the only one who had been embarrassed at the table.
Eventually, all of our food arrived and we began to dig in almost immediately. The restaurant wasn't the nicest place in the world, I mean, we were spending our own money and everyone knows how limited teenagers are with their cash.
I had finished before everyone else, because I only got a salad. I had already eaten popcorn at the movies and didn't want to get something too unhealthy, so I figured a salad would do the job.
"Mitch, go to the bathroom with me?" Scott asks me, his hand returning to my thigh shortly. He looked a little uneasy, his face turned slightly pale.
"But, we just went at the theater-"
"Bathroom," he says again. I raised an eyebrow and quickly stood up, leading us both into the bathroom. He followed right behind me, letting the door shut behind us.
"What is the matter with you?" I ask him. "You caused a scene." He sighed.
"I just needed to get away for a moment, okay?" He says, running a hand threw his hair. He walked in front of the mirror and turned the sink on, collecting some water in his hands before lightly splashing it into his face. I walked over behind him, watching as he watched me in the mirror. I put a hand on his lower back.
"What's wrong?" I ask. "It was just really sudden, are you okay?" I ask again. He nods.
"Yep," he says. "An ex is out there, didn't want to be seen." I raised an eyebrow.
"Really? Where?" I ask. "I'll show him that you're clearly not available at the moment-"
"It's not a he, Mitch," he tells me. "You have to remember that I just recently came out, okay? I've been with more girls then guys." I nodded slowly. "She was, like, super obsessed with me. I dumped her so quick. She never left me alone. Like, she's insane! And I know she'll come up to me if she sees me." I smile slightly.
"Well, too bad for her," I say. "All you have to say is that you're into guys. It's an immediate turn off for girls." He chuckles, which is what I wanted, for him too smile. He turned around and leaned against the sink, his hands falling to my waist. I let him hold me, a smile forming in my face.
"Thank god you're here," he says softly. "Because if not, I'd be having this conversation with Avi. Knowing him, he'd find her and tell her that I'm here," I chuckle.
"That sounds like an Avi thing to do," I say. He nods.
"You know, you're a lot different than Alex," he says. "When I was with him, he was so 'let's go here together!' and 'take me here, take me there!' It's too much sometimes," he explains. "You're so much calmer, and you go with the flow more," he smiles. "I like that about you. You're just so...Mitch," he says. "It really is hard to explain. You're so unique and intriguing, I wanna be around you every time I can be, that's why I asked you to come with us-" I cut him off by connecting my lips to his. I don't even know why I did it, to be honest. He was just being so cute and sweet and I couldn't refrain myself. He immediately kissed me back, but as soon as I realized what I had done, I pulled myself away, taking a few steps back. He looked a little confused.
"I didn't just do that," I say. "Did I really just do that?!" I ask myself.
"You-you regret it?" Scott asks, pain on his face. I immediately walked towards him and cupped his face in my hands.
"No, no, of course not. That isn't what I meant. Our first kiss was not supposed to be in a bathroom," I say. Scott simply laughed.
"And this is what I'm talking about. That is such a you thing to say," Scott says, pulling me close again and putting his lips back on mine, making me smile into his lips.
