A few days later
In the time that passed after the first transfer, Gaster kept on saying I needed to wait to continue until we knew I was better. I knew I was ready, but I listened to him anyways. He was the scientist after all. I had finished my romance novel. I'd had a lot of spare time. Other than reading, I helped around the lab, and cooked. One night, I made a butterscotch cinnamon pie for desert. It was pretty good for my second time making it!
I was in an upstairs lab room with Gaster, analyzing some of the data we took from his soul. It was handling the DETERMINATION very well. Almost like it was made for it! I had asked Gaster about it, and he said that he had prepared it for the DETERMINATION. That way, it wouldn't take as long to do this whole thing.
"Gaster? It's been several days now, and both of our souls are ready to do another transfer. Can we please do another?" I asked Gaster cautiously. I didn't want to upset him.
He sighed, and thought for a moment before replying. "Okay, fine. We can do another one. But, I want to monitor your soul one last time before we start."
"Will do!" We walked downstairs together. He said yes! If we kept at this pace we'd be done... I don't know when. I don't know how many transfers we'll need to do before we're done. When we walked inside the lab room, I walked inside his machine, and he walked over to his desk. We really needed to come up with a name for the machine. It did the extractions as well as monitoring my soul, and my DETERMINATION.
For the transfer, Gaster steps into another machine like the one I'm in. Inside, he must have something to control both of the machines, because he always turns them on from the inside.
"Looks like you're good to go," he said, and walked into his machine. "Ready to go?" I took a deep breath and steadied myself.
"I'm ready." I heard him power up the machine, and my whole body felt like it was on fire. I groaned softly. I couldn't really do anything else. The pain was excruciating. It wasn't as bad as a Gaster blaster, but it lasted longer.
"Hang in there, almost done"
I tried to say okay, but it came out more like, "Nnnnrg....." I tried. To take my mind off the pain, I focused on steadying my breathing, and stared at my exposed soul. It glowed red, like always, but the glow flowed as a stream to the top of the machine.
The machine shut off as Gaster said, "Okay, all done." I gulped in air as I tried to steady my breathing. I stumbled out, and braced my hands on my knees as I caught my breath.
"Are you okay," Gaster asked me, and helped me stand up. I found it hard to keep my balance, so he put his arm around me.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I just... Need to lie down." Gaster helped me up to my room. He was basically holding me up.
As he helped me lie down, he said, "I'll bring you some food, what would you like?"
"Can I have some soup? It always makes me feel better."
"Sure, if you need anything else just ask," he said. I smiled and thanked him. As he exited the room, I drifted off to sleep. When I woke up there was a bowl of soup on the dresser next to me. Somehow, it was still warm.
