Over the next few days both of the girls had been inconsolable and clingy toward Lindsey, constantly asking where Mommy was. "She will be back soon I promise! In the meantime you'll have Stevie looking out for you!" He tried to tell them, Stevie agreeing from the chair in the living room. "Mommy!" Anna shook her head, jumping against Lindsey in a hurry to be held. "Hey, it's alright baby. You were all over Stevie the other day..."

"I want Mama!" She wailed, Stephanie joining in on the commotion. Stevie walked over to Stephanie and lifted her against her in an attempt to stop her crying. "Ma!" She cried, pushing away from Stevie. "No, come on sweetie, it's alright..." tears had begun to fall from her eyes too at the rejection she was receiving from the girls. She could tell that Lindsey was struggling with the girls, "Girls, Mommy wants you two to be good while she's gone away for a little while," he told them, Anna just continued to cry, not even attempting to listen, and Stephanie began to kick Stevie in the stomach. "Stephanie!" Lindsey yelled, snatching he from Stevie, She didn't dare kick her father, just staring at him. Stevie rubbed her stomach slightly

"Are you okay?" Lindsey asked softly, She just nodded, silently picking up stray toys from the floor. Lindsey was angry with the girls, laying them down in their playpen, "If either one of you gets out there will be consequences," he warned.

He walked to Stevie who was wiping her eyes "I never want to become a mother..."

"Don't say that...the girls were practically raised by just their mother and are extremely attached to her. We just moved them to a strange place and things are tough on them right now."

"Alright...I'm sorry. I never should of come here..." she said out loud, Lindsey stayed quiet, "I'm just worried about the baby....where is she having them?"

"I don't know Lindsey! You should of just stayed with her, you left me for a reason, I shouldn't of ruined what you had."

"I'm in love with you!"

"You lost your wife, who's carrying your baby, look me in the eye and tell me I'm worth that!" Lindsey turned to her, "You are worth it to me, I'm just worried about the baby."

"Then we have to find her!"

"I don't know where to look. This is a new city and she doesn't have any money..."

"We will go have a look around the hotels and such and bring her back!"

"Will you stay with the kids? I don't think they could handle a car ride. If they misbehave just tell them that I will be back to deal with their punishment. You have to be stern with them, not mean, but stern enough so they will respect you."

"I'm not good with kids Linds..."

"You are amazing with kids, just keep them fed and put on a movie or something."

"Alright." Before she knew it he was gone and she was alone with two kids. They were both sitting in the playpen crying silently for their mother, Anna clinging to Stephanie for comfort. "Hey girls, want to come watch a movie with me?" She bent down to their level. Anna carefully crawled out of their play pen, Stephanie needing extra help, "Oops, there we go..." Stevie said, scooping her up.

Anna climbed up on the couch, reaching for Stephanie and just sitting there with her. They both looked so unhappy....

"Want to pick the movie?" Stevie asked trying to cheer them up.

"We've never had a TV before..."

"Oh...well I'll choose something from my collection." She found her Lady and The Tramp vhs and popped it in the player, sitting down on the sofa with them. Stephanie seemed to perk up once the movie started, Anna just simply watched and waited for her mom. "Anna, please stop looking at the door! She'll get here when she gets here!"

She began to silently cry, focusing on the movie instead. "Hey...I'm sorry, come here..." Stevie picked her up and placed her on her lap, wrapping her arms around her.

"She's not coming back..."

"Yes she is, then you can all go home, and you won't have to spend anymore time with me..."

"I like you..."

"But I'm not your mom, yeah I get it." She kissed her head. Anna and Stephanie snuggled up to her, both of the girls where very lethargic and depressed.

"You can sleep on me if you want sweethearts." Nodding, Anna laid her head on Stevie's shoulder, closing her eyes and Stevie heard her breathing even out, moving her hand up to stroke her hair, Stevie soon fell asleep with them. Lindsey returned hours later, kissing Stevie softly

She stirred and yawned, focussing on Lindsey's face, "How'd it go?" She whispered trying not to wake the kids. "I didn't fine anything but I found a few people who may have seen her..."

"Where have they seen her?"

"On the streets."

"Oh god...what did I do..."'she said becoming sad.

"Don't blame your self..."

"You need to find your wife first, she's almost ready to give birth, you'd hate me out there in the same predicament. She's out there because I couldn't keep my hands to myself."  Sighing he nodded, grabbing her keys and softly closing the door behind him.

Stephanie woke up, but Anna didn't, Stevie knew she was about to cry so she quickly lifted her and carried her to the kitchen. She needed her medicine as Stevie heard her breathing labor, "Here we go baby." She spooned the medicine into her mouth, her breathing becoming normal again after a few minuets. Stevie was rocking her when she heard a scream from the other room.

"Anna!" Stevie sprinted in, Anna had somehow managed to fall off the sofa and hit her head on the coffee table, causing her to bleed. "Shh," she soothed, picking up the little girl in her free arm and taking her into the bathroom. "Anna, look at me."

Anna looked at her, crying hard, her head was cut quite bad "I'm so sorry, baby. I shouldn't have left you alone."

"If hurts!"she sobbed, "I know honey, I know! God, please don't tell daddy...!" She begged, getting a wash cloth and pressing it to the wound.

"Ow!" She wailed, sitting still for Stevie. "There's a good girl!" She found some butterfly stitches and placed them over the cut, sealing it for now, picking her up she held her tightly. "My head hurts..."laying it against Stevie's shoulder

"It will for a little while, I can't let you sleep for a while so you need to stay awake for me alright baby?" Stevie carried her into the kitchen and gave her a low dose of medicine, "You'll feel better soon."

Anna soon became incredibly tired, snuggling into Stevie "I'm tired, mommy."

"No, don't go to sleep yet...come in, let's go finish the movie," kissing her head, she wouldn't admit it but it warmed her heart to be called mommy. "Okay..." she held on tight as she was carried back down stairs, Stephanie carefully on Stevie's other hip, she sat down on the sofa with them, trying to put them both on her lap. "Be good until Daddy gets back," kissing their heads

They settled down quickly, Stevie kept watching the clock, it was hours until Lindsey came through the door.

She turned to see Lauren walking in behind him...
