I couldn't speak today.

A woman so graceful, and kind

I tried to keep my gaze away,

And keep her beauty out of mind.

Yet I stood there admiring her smile and laughter,

not knowing what truly came right after.

I adored her from a distance,

enjoying the view from the other side of the fence,

And understanding I did not need to look tough

to tell her that she really is a diamond in the rough.

Yet I just stood there admiring her sweet and content

I just couldn't speak to her today, she was perfect,

I didn't know today would be the last day I'd see her,

nor the things she went through and struck her with anxiety and fear.

She was yelled at, cursed by the numerous people filled with jealousy and rage,

As if she was just a word in the massive paragraphs of page.

They called her bitch,  slut,  whore,

And other words that shouldn't be repeated nor ignored.

She tried to block these opinions of people she cared for,

and people that she barely knew her, and never saw her before.

I didn't know that today would be the last day I'd see her

But if I did know, I wouldn't have stared at her.

I would have told her "you make me breathless."

Instead of standing on the other side of the fence. Speechless.
