A mischievous boy with icy blue eyes and snow white hair froze a drinking fountain with a snow-covered staff shaped like a shepherd's crook. The kid using it, however, froze his tongue on it while drinking. The boy laughed heartily and flew away like a snowflake.

As he sped through the night skies, he gazed down on the city below him. It was very lively, actually.

But he flew faster, and it was already morning in Burgess, his home, when he got there. How fun would it be if the children could see him! Sadly, all he could do was watch them laugh and play.

One of them caught his attention.

A little boy with brown hair and brown eyes was carrying a sled when his mom called him.

"Jamie!" his mom yelled. "Hat?"

"Hah?" was Jamie's reaction. His mom strode down the porch steps and placed a beanie on his head. "You wouldn't want Jack Frost nipping at your nose," she said quite warningly.

"Who's Jack Frost?" Jamie asked, slightly irritated.

"Nothing, dear. It's just an expression."

The white-haired boy felt offended. "Hey!" he complained, although he knew she won't hear him.

Jack scooped up some snow and formed it into a snowball. "'Who's Jack Frost?'" he repeated. He blew on the snowball lightly, aimed it at Jamie, and...

"Ow!"

The snowball went sailing and hit him behind his head. At first he was startled, but suddenly, blue sparks danced in front of his eyes, and a grin crossed his face. "Okay, who threw that?"

"Well, it wasn't Big Foot, kiddo," Jack replied.

Jamie formed a snowball and hurled it at Pippa, one of his playmates, thinking that the enchanted snowball came from her.

"Jamie Bennet, no fair!" she shouted at him.

"You struck first!" he yelled back as a response.

A snowball fight sparked between the children. Jack partook in it, as if he was visible to them.

“Free for all!” he shouted happily. “Alright, who needs ammo?” he asked as he waved his staff on the snow, creating more enchanted snowballs.

All seemed well until one went flying and hit a slightly chubby girl of their age at the back of her head. Grunting, she turned to them and scowled while clutching a snowman’s head.

“Run! I hit Cupcake!” Pippa exclaimed with fear.

“She hit Cupcake,” said Monty, one of Jamie's playmates.

“You hit Cupcake?” Claude, another of Jamie’s friends, asked with a panicky tone.

Jamie covered himself with his sled as Cupcake growled angrily right above him. With a playful grin, Jack launched a snowball, this time right at her face.

He was atop his staff among the children, making it look like it came from one of them. The children were all confused.

“Did you throw that?”

“No.”

“It wasn’t me!”

Blue sparks danced in front of her eyes. She started to laugh involuntarily, but tried to hide it.

But Jack’s power over mischief took effect quickly, and she as well played with them.

“Little slippery!” he yelled, creating an ice run in front of Jamie. Jamie fell forward and landed on his sled.

“Jamie!” the children screamed. He sledded down the streets of Burgess, with Jack flying beside him.

“Whoa!” he shouted in surprise.

“That’s the street!” Pippa yelled warningly. Jamie panicked and screamed.

“Woah! Don't worry, kid, I gotcha. Hold on! It's gonna be alright!” Jack said as he waved his staff on the street, leading Jamie’s sled safely.

The flustered boy kept on shouting.

“Keep up with me, kid! Take a left!”

“Hey, slow down!” a pedestrian said, annoyed.

“Oh no no no no no!” Jamie said repeatedly.

The other pedestrians were confused and quite annoyed.

“Is that Jamie Bennet?”

“Hey, watch it!”

Jack ignored them. “There you go!”

“No no!” the child protested.

“Whoo hoo!”

“No no!”

Jack laughed, but a car horn distracted him. “Whoa!”

He flicked his staff and made a ramp. But mysteriously, a portal appeared ahead of him and he flew right through it. Jamie, however, careened to the ramp and landed in front of a statue. The children gathered to him and helped him. But before they did, a couch hit him, causing him to lose a tooth.

Now, back to Jack. Jack tumbled out of the portal. He stood up and took his staff that was violently thrown away when he was spewed out of it. He stood up and he let his gaze wander around the room. A gigantic globe caught his attention. It was dotted with flickering yellow lights.

Only the word “Whoa,” escaped his mouth. He knew exactly where he was: North’s Workshop, otherwise known as the North Pole.

He was knocked out of his thoughts when an arrow was released dangerously close to him. He felt his heart nearly jump out of his rib cage.

"W-who's there?" he called out in a trembling voice. He jutted out his staff and looked around more attentively.

"Who are ye?" a voice from the shadows asked in a thick Scottish accent.

"Um..." he hummed, unsure if he should tell her his name.

A girl emerged from the dark with a loaded bow in hand. She had curly, fiery red hair and pale blue eyes. "Spit it out or die."
