Hey guys I'm going to try and write more often.
_____________________________"That bridge looks... about as safe as the others." Sam commented before Nathan stepped onto it.
"How and the hell does that look safe? It's barely holding on and there is a huge gap of missing boards..."
"Whoa" Nathan exclaimed as the bridge shook beneath him.
"See, what did I tell you." Sam rolled his eyes at me.
"It's okay, it's holding! Come on." Nathan called back to us as he waited at the other end.
"Ladies first." Sam gestured for me to go in front of him.
"Age before beauty." His smirk went away as if I had insulted him.
"I'm not that old." He defended with a pout.
"Tell that to the grays in your temple." It was my turn to smirk as I crossed the bridge, Nathan was cracking up at the other side.
"Good one, Meg." He patted my shoulder as we waited for Sam.
"These bridges are clearly not built to code."
"Sure they are. The pirate code." I rolled my eyes and scoffed at Nathan.
"Not bad." Sam laughed at his brother. "Oh, no. I still have rocks in my shoes from the last ten slides." Sam complained as we had to slid down another cliff.
"Yeah, well. I'd rather have rocks in my shoes then ass burn." Their laughter echoed through out the cave. I smiled.
We slid down the cliff to get across as we climbed another cliff towards the top of the cave. More explosions went off, making everything shake around us.
"So, did Tew built this place with Avery? I can't make sense of it." Sam asked as we climbed to the top.
"Neither can I. I mean, if Avery's trying to hide his treasure, why involve another pirate?" Nathan shines his light around the cave as we all headed for an archway.
"Well, maybe he saw him as a part of his crew? Maybe he sent him one of those Saint Dismas crosses."
"Yeah, and maybe Tew took all the treasure for himself." Sam sighed from beside me.
"Please don't say that." I let out a breath as I continued to grip my stomach, Sam placed his hand on my waist, trying to help support me. I have him a thankful smile as we followed Nathan into another room.
As we walked in Sam stepped on a stone along the floor, that particular stone sunk into the floor. We all turned around as the door started to close.
"No, no, no, no!" Sam ran to stop the door but it rolled shut.
"Well, we're not doing back that way." Sam sighed with frustration as we all turned back towards the other wall.
"At least we didn't get dropped in a pit or something." Nathan making light is the situation.
"Yet." I interjected. They both looked to me shaking their heads.
"What?" I lifted my arms.
"Just saying, it could happen." They both turned away as they stared at what looked like a puzzle... an elaborate puzzle.
"This is... Elaborate." Sam said looking up at the large piece on the wall.
"Found another switch." Nate called out. He stood in front of a switch that had been activated... by the previous guy. There for his skeleton sat there empaled with spikes.
"You sure that looks promising to you?" I asked as I pointed to the skeleton who's hand was still in the switch might I add.
"I'm just gonna take the..." he reached out and grabbed the skeleton's arm, pulling it out of the slot. The spikes went back into the wall and the floor as he stepped back.
"Whoa." He said surprised. The wheels on the wall began to move once he removed the arm.
"It's a pretty elaborate test? Or trial?"
"Yeah...one this guy clearly failed." He tossed the arm aside before looking at the wheel.
"Then lets do better. There's something on the bottom there." Nathan walked up to the puzzle.
"It's a bucket."
"Nice going Captain Obvious." Nathan looked back to me with a raised brow. I chuckled lightly before sitting on a rock. I winced as my body came in contact with the rock, my hand cradling my injury.
Sam looked back to me, eyes set in worry. I smiled softly before looking down and letting them figure out the puzzle left by Avery. As the boys began to talk, I leaned my back against another rock. Setting my head against it as I closed my eyes listening to them. My eyes began to flutter shut as Sam and Nathan's voices completely faded from hearing rang.
~~~~
I felt something nudging my shoulder, causing my body to sway. A muffled voice reached my ears as it was waking me up from my tired state. My eyes crept open to see Sam kneeled down omg don't of me, shaking me lightly.
"Meg, sweetheart, Nathan opened the door. Come on, it's time to get up." I rubbed my eyes before sitting up straight, I yelped, making my voice echo through the cave. My hand shot to my stomach.
"Baby you okay?" Sam asked concerned as he cupped my cheeks. I nodded my head before standing up. My body swayed a little, causing him to grasp onto me tightly.
"Why don't I help you walk, okay?" I nodded my head again as he helped me along.
"No shushkanates, no natekabobs today." Nathan teases as the door was opened.
"Those sound really good right now." I whined as my stomach growled on cue. Nathan looked back to me with hooded eyes.
"Really? I'm talking about me becoming a shish-kabob and you think that sounds appetizing?" He placed his hands on his hips. I shrugged my shoulders.
Nathan lead the way as we walked out of the room, Sam acting as my crutch for the mean time.
"So, if that was a test... what do you suppose it was testing exactly? Filling a bucket?"
