Hello hello. Like I said in the Author's note at the beginning, the rest of the story is not in River's POV but the main female's. It's also in first person perspective unlike the previous chapter. I'm new to first person writing though so please don't expect this to be perfect. :)

This chapter has not been edited.

"Oh my God, are you even listening to me?" gossip queen Emma screeched.

I turned to my best friend and exaggeratedly rolling my eyes, "Sorry sweetie pie, I'm distracted by my Prince."

My friend turned to the direction of my gaze and sighed, "Dude, I love that you're into some guy and all, but sitting around and just staring at him isn't going to feed me. Go talk to him or something!"

"Are you crazy?"

The people on the surrounding tables all turned to face us, making us lower our voices.

"He's a doctor, he probably has a million followers like me. I don't want to bother him with my useless presence."

"So instead you have opted for stalking?" Emma berated.

"I am not stalking him!"

"U-huh," she said, her head tilting in his direction, "so you started working voluntarily at this hospital from the goodness of your heart? Oh wait, you also dragged me along with you for my own goodness, am I correct?"

I giggled, "Spot on."

Emma sighed and leaned back in her chair. "Out of all the people I could have possibly been friends with, how did I end up with you?"

I laughed at her, lightly punching her arm.

"But seriously, you know everything about him, from the colour of his notebook to his address. That's honestly beyond creepy.

"But it's not like I'm going out of my way to get all that info on him. He works at the hospital and I volunteer here. Do you know how much the nurses talk? Not to mention, I often come across him here and there, it's only natural to pick up things."

"You know that he takes vitamins before breakfast and after dinner everyday. You also know that although he can drive, he rides his bike to and from work because he has a fear that the car may explode."

"Hush! You're making me sound like a creep! Like I said, I only know those because the nurses talk a lot."

Emma rolled her eyes, "Seriously, if you're not going to talk to him, stop doing weird crap like this. Once he finds a girlfriend, you're only going to be hurt."

I turned back to face my prince and sighed, "I have been crushing on him for three years now, if he was going to date he would have done so by now. He's too into his work to care about dating around though."

"So basically he's a workaholic. Explains why he hasn't noticed a crazy girl following him around everywhere."

I rolled my eyes and turned back to my friend, "Don't you have to go babysit or something? Leave me in my own company, please."

She laughed before starting to pack her bag.

"Aren't you going to leave?"

"Dr. Yates has a surgery in two hours. I'm going to wait until then before I go home."

Emma narrowed her eyes, "No, you're going to pack your bags and leave with me."

"What? No, I'm not. I--"

"Azra Lydia Grace, pack your bags right this instant or I will call your mother and tell her you're whoring around!"

A few gasps were heard around the hospital cafeteria and a few parents turned to glare at us.

"What the hell?" I whisper growled.

"You're honestly wasting your time here. Just an hour ago you were whining about the fact that your assignment is due tomorrow!"

"I know but I don't want to leave yet," I whined.

"Stop being so childish," Emma said as she began packing my bag, "either go and talk to him or come home with me."

I opened my mouth to retort but nothing came out of my mouth. Instead I childishly whined and followed Emma out of the hospital, all the while dragging my legs like a stubborn child.

When we reached the exit of the hospital, Emma swore.

"What's wrong?"

"It's pouring and I didn't bring my umbrella. Do you have one with you?"

I shook my head.

"I'll quickly run and buy one from that convenience store beside the hospital. Go wait inside for me."

I nodded but didn't comply. I never understood why people treated rain as if it was infected with the plague. It was like a blessing to me. It cooled me down and reminded me of all the happy memories of my childhood.

I closed my eyes as I let the rain soak me. Suddenly, the rain stopped hitting my skin and small splatter noises was heard from around me. I opened my eyes and looked towards the sky to see that I was covered by an umbrella.

I sheepishly smiled as I pulled Emma's hand and began walking.

"Before you tell me off, I acknowledge that I was wrong by standing in the rain. But the rain is just so beautiful and if feels so nice on my skin."

As Emma continued to silently follow me, I took this as my cue to continue speaking.

"You're always so grumpy so I advise you to also try it sometime. Maybe that way you'll stop being so aggressive," I pouted.

Emma still didn't reply. It was strange that she hadn't punched me yet but I revelled in her newfound kindness and decided to take this as my chance to confess my biggest mistake towards her. Knowing Emma, she wouldn't lose her temper in public and considering we were around a lot of people, she most definitely would not attack me and if she did try, I could always run away.

With that mindset, I came to a sudden halt, causing Emma to walk into me. I turned to her, my eyes closed and began speaking as fast as I possibly could.

"The other day, you know how I was burning paper to prove that it wasn't enough to make the fire alarm go off?"

No answer.

"Well, one of the papers I burnt was your missing assignment paper that was worth twenty percent of your final grade," I blurted.

I prepared for a blast but nothing came out. I slowly opened my eyes only to come face to face with a long, clothed chest instead of the bright blue eyes I was expecting. Confused, I looked up to meet the eyes of a dark eyed male that most certainly was not Emma. I could feel my face burning but all he did was return my embarrassed look with a blank one.

"Who are you?" I screeched, looking for a place to hide myself in.

He didn't answer. I looked behind to see we had walked quite a distance from the hospital. My breathing suddenly got heavier as I imagined the thousands of different ways this man could murder me.

"Who are you?" I repeated.

Still no reply.

Scared for my life, I turned around and walked as fast as I could back to the hospital. Although I hadn't looked behind me, I could hear the footsteps of the man following closely behind me.

I turned around and shouted, "If you don't stop following me, I will report you to the police!"

Unfortunately that didn't work and he continued to walk my way.

"Please," I begged turning back towards him, "please don't kill me. I have my whole life ahead of me."

He didn't reply but continued walking. Too scared to let him get closer, I began running to the hospital and once I got there, I ran straight to the security guard and told him I was being followed and possibly almost murdered.

"Calm down please, Ma'am. If he's around, can you point him out for me?"

I turned and just as I was about to point him out, the security guard ran to greet my assailant.

"Mr. Yates, it's so nice to see you. Is there a problem? You usually enter via the back doors."

Mr. Yates? Wait, was he related to my prince? Or is his name Yates by coincidence? Before I could even think any further, I was suddenly being pulled away from the entrance of the hospital and into it.

I had a sudden urge to scream but before anything could even come out, I was pushed into an empty elevator. I began to silently hyperventilate as I cowered into the corner. My assailant didn't utter a word. He just faced the doors of the elevator.

"So this is how I end..." I spoke to myself. "I always did want an interesting death... But this is going to be painful. I wanted interesting not painful."

The doors suddenly opened and I was pulled out of the elevators and towards a room that read "Security" on the door.

"Wait, are you going to murder me in front of all the security guards? Are you an exhibitionist?" millions of terrifying images popped into my head once again.

While I was crying over the horrifying images in my mind, it seemed my assailant had found what he was looking for because now he was pushing me into a chair and directing me towards a screen of what looked like our earlier episode outside the hospital.

What I saw on the screen made me suddenly want to prepare my bed in the morgue. On the screen, there was a video of me happily soaking up the rain. A few feet away my assailant was stood holding up his umbrella, possibly also waiting for someone. Then suddenly, someone seemed to have called out his name as he turned his face towards them while also preparing to close his umbrella. During this time, his umbrella brushed above me and covered my face and not even a millisecond later, I open my eyes, see the umbrella and assume he's Emma so I grab him by the hand and pull him towards me as I lead the way away from the hospital. My assailant looks shocked and turns to face the person behind him but before he could even do anything, I grab his hand tighter and pull him even closer to me and continue to happily walk away. How I didn't notice he wasn't Emma was beyond me.

"Out of the two of us, you're the scarier one," my assailant said, speaking to me for the first time.

Too embarrassed to say or even face my assailant, I simply ran out of the security room and back outside the hospital. Just as I was about to leave, Emma was entering. I grabbed her hand and continued to run away with a confused Emma on tow.
