"Happy graduation, kids! Congratulations! You've made it!"
Yes. I've finally graduated. That's our school head congratulating us for a job well done. My batchmates cheered. Some threw their graduation caps in the air and roared in ecstasy.
My cousins also hollered with our batchmates. Some have already began taking selfies while others have started hugging each other.
Yup. I'll definitely miss high school. I looked around for my cousins and waved them goodbye before heading out to look for my family.
When I have found them, I waved my diploma to them and laughed. I was a few more steps from them when Stephen -- our batch's MVP -- blocked my way and handed me a red rose.
Some of our batchmates who were swarming around us whistled and shouted.
Who would not?
The hottest MVP has just handed me a red rose. We were never friends in my years in high school. We have not yet met formally, to be honest. We just shared a book one time for our Science class. So why was he doing this all of a sudden?
I narrowed my eyes at him. "You're making a scene, Stephen. What's your game?"
To my surprise, he blushed. "I just really...like you, Irene."
"You know I won't believe you, right?"
"You were still seventeen that time so I did not push the idea, but you turned eighteen. We've graduated. I think I should give it a chance," he told.
He had a point but --
"Sorry, kid. She's off-limits."
I turned around to the familiar voice behind me and gaped. He was eyeing on Stephen like he was a wolf and Stephen was just a dog.
But what the hell was he doing? We can't be seen. Our relationship was still a secret...or so, I thought.
Startled, I glanced at my family. Mom and dad were smiling while my brother was laughing.
They already knew.
"Sir, I like your sister," Stephen innocently said.
I pursed my lips to contained my laughter and maintaineda straight face. "Stephen, that's my brother over there."
I pointed my index finger to the direction of my brother. Stephen followed it with his eyes. My brother waved at him. When he glanced back at us, he swallowed.
"Then who is he?"
"I'm the boyfriend, kid," Matt replied eagerly.
"So you have a thing for older men, huh?" Stephen noted in a cold tone.
"And you have a thing for my girl." Matt slipped his hands in his pockets and eyed at Stephen. "I suggest you turn around now."
Stephen glared at Matt before turning around to leave. Our batchmates, who were done watching, finally dispersed like ants.
I looked at Matt worriedly.
"You're going to make headlines, you know."
He shrugged. "Don't care."
"You might lose your job."
"Don't care."
I scowled. "Are you serious?"
He leaned forward and planted a kiss on my forehead. "Dead serious to you."
He grabbed on my hand and held it with his. We approached my family whose eyes and smiles were screaming quietly at me.
I felt my cheeks flushed so I bent down my head in embarrassment.
"Hey, mom, dad. Look at our princess. She's embarrassed that she's in love!" my brother teased.
I peeked up and glared at him. "¡Cállate! <Shut up!>"
He just pulled his tongue out at me. "Mi hermana está enamorada! <My sister's in love!>"
I glanced at my parents to ask for their help in stopping my brother from teasing but they just chuckled.
Matt suddenly hauled me to his side and nodded at my parents, like he's asking for their approval.
"Si no te importa, la llevaré ahora conmigo. Gracias de nuevo por su aprobación. <If you don't mind, I'll take her now with me. Thank you again for your approval.>"
I peeked at him but he just winked at me. He said goodbyes for me and was quick to haul me away and pull me inside his car parked a few steps away.
He ignited the engine and began to drive.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"You'll see," he simply replied.
"How did you tell my parents?" I questioned, changing the topic.
He shook his head. "I did not. I thought they've already seen it coming since the night of your eighteenth birthday."
I shrugged and sighed in relief.
"How did you meet that MVP?" he popped.
"We shared a Science book before in class," I narrated.
He groaned. "Couldn't he afford to buy his own book?"
"Now that you've mentioned it, you have a point."
"He wants you," he said coldly.
I smirked at the hint of jealousy in his tone. "You think? Well, he's definitely good-looking and hot. Not to mention he's an MVP. Now I know why most girls chase the MVP."
I almost hit the dashboard if it weren't for the seatbelt. He halted from driving and glared at me.
"You're doing a good job making me jealous so stop now," he warned.
"Or else?" I piqued.
"We might not make it in time to our destination."
I huffed. "I can't help but imagine what would have happened if I hooked up with him before."
"Don't try me, Irene," he threatened.
"Would we be making out all night? Or hooking up everywhere?"
Again, thank you for the seatbelt. He swerved the car too fast I had to catch my breath when he drove faster than the normal speed limit.
In what seemed to be a fifteen-minute drive, we arrived at a cheap motel in just five minutes. He ordered me to jump out of the car.
He made me wore a cap before we entered and checked in. The receptionist eyed on Matt for too long, I had to cough.
So I have already felt his jealousy, fine.
I took him away as fast as I can away from her sight and led us both into the elevator.
When it rang at fourth floor, he hauled me with his hand and opened our room 425 with his key card. The moment the door clicked, he pulled me inside and pinned me on the door as his mouth crashed onto mine.
