Chapter 7 ~ Family gathering

James POV:
Riley opens the door and smiles when she sees me.
'Hey James!'
'Hey beautiful!' I smile kissing her.
'You look georgous'
'Thank you! You can go into the sittingroom. Everyone is in there'
I walk in and see Rileys family who all greet me and Hunters family too who also greet me. Riley comes in and jumps on my back.
'Hi!'
'Yo'
'What you doing?'
'Not much'
'Can I join you?'
'Maby. But shouldnt you be on door duty?'
'It gets lonely without you'
'Would you like me to join you?'
'Yeah!'
I laugh and she gets off my back and drags me put into the hallway. My family eventually decide to show up and so does the rest of Rileys and Hunters. When everyone has arrived we all go to eat. When everyone is finished Emily stads up.
'Guyes! Hello! Sorry to inturrupt!'
Everyone goes quiet and Riley sits on my lap.
'I just want to say thank you all for comming here and its lovely to have you all. Especially the Torjmans since this is their first time comming to a family dinner before James and Riley became Jiley!'
Everyone laughs and Riley blushes. I smile.
'Anyway the reason why your all here is because I have an announcement to make. As you know me and Hunter have been dating for a few years now and its been great. So today we went out for the day and something amazing happened'
Everyone looks at her.
'Me and Hunter are engaged! We're getting married!'
Suddenly Rileys mom screeches.
'My baby girl is getting married!' she says smothering her in kisses.
'Mom!' she says embareased. Everyone gets up to congradulates them.
Riley jumps up and jumps into her sisters arms.
'Im so happy for you Em!'
She smiles.
'Thanks Ri'
She comes back to me.
'I cant believe shes getting married' she smiles.
'I know. Its crazy'
She nods.
Riley dissapears in among the crowd to catch up with her family. I go outside and look around. I feel an arm on my shoulder.
'Hey James'
'Hey Em. Comgradulations!' I smile hugging her.
'Thank you'
I smile.
'What youve done for Riley since that whole thing with Charlie has made her a different person. I remember her comming home from school when she was younger crying because she saw Charlie hanging out with another girl. As time went on and she saw him kiss others she just wasnt happy. No matter what anyone would say to her she wouldnt be happy. But the night he did that to her everything changed and got worse'
'I know'
'The way you helped her that night was amazimg. Other people would look at her and say oh shes gotten rapped. Its not my problem. She can fix it. But you let her in when she needed you'
'Of course I did. I care about her'
'And then with the whole pregnancy thing...your perfect for her James. And shes perfect for you'
I nod.
'I want you to promise me something'
I look at her.
'Im not always going to be around to watch and guard my little sister. So I need you to promise me that not only as her lover or boyfriend, but as her friend that you will protect her for me'
'Em Ive been protecting her since I was six'
'So you will?'
'Of course. I promise'
'Thank you. It means alot'
I nod and she walks off.
I will always protect her.
