Chapter 9: A Difficult Person And A Hurtful Crowd

(Louis’ Point of View)

Harry just told me that he likes me. He leaves to go answer the door and I’m left here looking like a blundering idiot. I’m not quite sure how I should respond, but one thing I do know is that I am massively happy right now. He likes me! I’ve liked him for so long and he finally likes me back! Thoughts of us being a couple are running through my head until I remember that it’s late at night and somebody is knocking at our door. Who comes this late at night other than a killer? Harry just went to answer the door for a killer! He could be killed before we even have a chance of being together. Oh no, he won’t even know that I like him back before he’s killed. I need to go save him!

I run down the hall way after Harry. “Harry! Harry! You need to know that I l-” I pause mid-sentence to take in my surroundings. A confused Harry is standing with the door opened to reveal a nervous looking Eleanor. What’s she doing here? “Uh, what’s going on?” I ask them both, feeling a little more than confused myself.

“She’s here for you.” Harry spits out before turning around and storms down the hallway to our room and slams the door shut, locking it in the process. I want to run after him, make sure he’s okay, reassure him, but something tells me I should deal with Eleanor first.

“Uh, hi…” Eleanor says quietly drawing my attention to her. “Would you like to talk in the hall?”

I look at her real quick before looking down the hall to where Harry stormed off to. “Yeah, that would probably be a good idea.” I tell her and then follow her outside the hotel room and down the hall some. I didn’t shut the door all the way though because I didn’t bring my key with me. “So, why’re you here? Or, most importantly, how did you know we were here? We don’t even know where we’re at.”

She chuckles nervously before speaking. “About that…well, at first I tried calling your mum, but she didn’t know. So, I called Paul. He told me that he couldn’t tell me, though. I was getting frustrated because nobody could give me an answer and then I finally had this really good idea. I called the phone company and asked if they could locate your number. I said that I had left my phone somewhere here while visiting and need to know where it is so I can retrieve it. They believed me and located your phone. I know this probably seems stalker-ish and whatnot. But, I had to see you before I went back home. I had to make sure of a few things.”

I’m not quite sure how I feel about the phone company being able to track me, or well, my phone. It’s far too weird, but, I’ll let it go for now. “What did you need to make sure of, El?” I ask her curiously. She came all this way just to see me before she headed back home. This must be something important.

“Well…” She starts off slowly. “I got to thinking about things. I couldn’t have possibly broken up with you just because of the fans. You know? I had dealt with them for a year or so. I was already warmed up to it all. I knew there were some awful ones, but others are really sweet. So, it couldn’t have been that reason alone. There had to be more.”

“What are you trying to say, Eleanor?” I’m confused as to what she is saying. Is she insinuating that we should be together again, or what’s going on? She picks really bad times to drop by. Harry just told me his feelings and now she’s here saying…I’m not exactly sure what she’s trying to say.

“I just, I felt like there had to be another reason. There had to be, I mean, I’ve dealt with the fans for so long and then suddenly break things off with you after a year? Knowing me, who I am, it just didn’t make sense. And as I thought more about it, I realize that it probably had something to do with a couple of things that I had read.”
