"Liz where is the damn milk?" my foster dad had yelled as I was leaving for school. "Get your ass up here right now and please explain to me why you could not get the milk yesterday and I do not want to hear any stupid excuse"

I heard him slam the refrigerator door as I ran to the kitchen, once I got in the kitchen I tried to explain myself but instead he just slapped me hard enough to leave a mark.

"Ow, Dad!" a tear had escaped my eye and rolled down my face.

"That's just a warning! Now, when you get home from school you better have a bag of groceries with some milk in it!" He said in a yelling tone as he pointed towards the door "and do not be late to school Elizabeth!"

I heard him say as I grabbed a paper towel to wipe away my tears and leave, as I was leaving I saw a glimpse of my face in the mirror and had seen how bruised up it was.

To get to my school I have to take the subway. I sat down in one of the chairs the subway cart provided, when I got comfortable I took out my phone and picked up where I last left off on Hamilton The Musical Act 1. I had found a recording of it on Youtube and downloaded it before it got taken down.

I had been humming to Yorktown (The World Turned Upside Down) when a hand had touched my shoulder. Before I could even react the man said, "What's that you're looking at"... I know that voice I thought. No way... it can't be. I looked up just enough to see him but for him to not see my bruised face and standing above me was the creator of Hamilton himself.. Lin-Manuel Miranda.
