Before you read this I'm sorry I haven't updated this book in a while. I was running out of ideas and dealing with school and depression. So I'll write 2 chapters just to make up for lost time. Anyway on with the story!

Sonic, the one that has kept me at bay from becoming my former self, was selected as my final test. A voice in the back of my head told me that the Agency had something to do with this. Apparently someone was keeping an eye on me, though I didn't really know who.

It didn't matter though; I had to stay focused on the events at hand. I had to stay sharp and keep an eye out for the blue blur. He was moving fast among the ruins of an old Mobian city that this holo-whatever machine portrayed. He moved so fast that my motion detector couldn't pick him up at times. I would have to use my eyes and ears to their fullest extent in order to track him.

I could hear the rapid footsteps of his feet as he raced across the ruins towards me. I could see the blue blur of his figure every time he moved. The dust that was kicked up by Sonic made it difficult to see his blur, and at one time muffled the sound of his movement. I knew that if I was going to win this then I would have to fire this rifle soon, and hope I would hit him.

Now don't get me wrong, I wasn't going to kill Sonic. That was not my intention. In this simulator there was a fail-safe, and this fail-safe made every bullet feel real to the touch. However real it may have seemed though, they wouldn't kill you. It was pretty much like the plastic rounds the Mobian police force uses today in training scenarios.

I set my rifle sight just ahead of what looked like a blue blur racing towards its next choice of cover and fired. I knew I wouldn't but in firing towards his location he must have realized that I could see him. It took him a few seconds before he started to move again, but this time I was ready. I fired again, this time just forward of his cover. Yet again though, I missed.

He was getting too close for comfort, and I needed to act fast. I decided that my best bet was to use a decoy that I had made. It wasn't the best, but one had to work with what was given. In order to make it somewhat look like me I took off my jacket and trousers and placed them on the dummy. I must admit, I didn't think that from behind it would look so convincing.

I managed to slide into a small crevice about four or five feet away from the dummy and waited. I now only had my ears to rely on. I could hear the wind blowing from the outside, I could hear dust hitting the building, but ultimately I could hear the ever resounding and pounding of rapid footsteps coming from the other side of the building.

I had just enough time to pull out my weapon of choice, a Smith & Wesson OTFOA (Out The Front, Open Assisted) Knife. It was a weapon that had enough spring ejection power to make the blade go through dry wall like butter. If it was attached to a wrist mount then it would be the perfect assassin's weapon, and nothing would come close to it in my eyes.

The footsteps were louder, but much slower now. Sonic had walked into the room and up to the dummy, "Shadow... tsk tsk tsk... you should know by now that I was already here. You've disappointed me. I thought this was goin..." I didn't let him finish that sentence.

I sprung from the crevice, yet somehow he turned and knocked my knife out of my hand with speed unlike any I have ever seen him use. He pointed his weapon at me, a Makarov pistol, "And to think that you would pose a challenge." Sonic, even as much as I liked him, started to piss me off with his mockery.

He kept talking, all the while my mind started racing for a way out. In mere seconds I closed my eyes, and without thinking about it I sprung into action. I moved at speeds at which I couldn't comprehend, so fast that it even made Sonic flinch. I knocked the Makarov into the air, hit Sonic across the face, snatched the falling pistol and pointed it at Sonic's head just before he looked back up.

"What in the hell!? How did you do that?" Sonic, was confused just as much as I was. "I have no cl..." Sonic didn't even give me time to finish a sentence before he moved in for his next move. He walked forward pushed my weapon away and pressed his lips against mine. His move had shocked me so much that we tumbled to the floor.

For just that moment, for that second of bliss, I felt like a million bucks. Like not a thing in the world could change this very moment. However I was wrong. Sonic detached his lips from mine and moved his hands through the white tuft of fur on my chest. He began to kiss me once again, yet I could feel his hands moving across my arms. What I didn't realize was that while he was having his long needed fun with me, he still didn't want to lose.

He grabbed the gun out of my hand and pointed it back at my head. "For some reason this isn't going well for you now is it Shadow?" Sonic, for the second time, had mocked me.

"Ya know... I should've figured out by now that this was more work than play." He knew I was right.

I searched my mind for other alternatives to getting out of this mess. Sonic saw my eyes search the area around him. "Trust me, anything you have in mind now is useless. Give up and try again some other day. I'll still be around, but I don't want you rushing into this job if you're not proven to be ready."

I thought and thought long and hard.

Come on, I can't lose to Sonic. The bet we had made still stands, and I intend full well to win this. Man this is har... hehe... why didn't I think of that before. Oh this should be fun.

I pulled Sonic towards me and kissed him. He seemed pleased with the motion; however what he didn't realize is that my other hand had gone to his nether region. He yelped and broke the kiss in pleasure, letting out a small moan. I worked what magic I could to try and take his mind off of the current situation.

In retrospect, Sonic decided to work away at my nether region as well. I couldn't help but let out a small moan. It seemed that the match was at a stand still, that is till he put down his weapon. I couldn't take my mind off of what he was doing, but fought hard to re-gain the pistol.

I picked it up and tried to aim, but the pleasure was getting to me. I had to act fast. I aimed at my blue counter-part and fired. In the mere seconds that the training had started, it had ended.

Time itself seemed to slow down. The bullet leaving the weapon moved at such a slow pace that it could've been plucked out of the air. I watched as the bullet made its way towards Sonic. Just before it hit, it had disappeared and the world around me faded away to the dark room we had started in.

Sonic and I got up and walked to the door, and out into the lab. Tails, Amy, my instructor and others we're cheering me on, congratulating me for a job well done, "Way to go Shadow." I heard some say. "I didn't think anyone could pass the final test on a first try." However Amy was the first to actually pull me to the side.

"Shadow, I must say... that was a job well done. I want to ask you a question though?" She seemed a little down. Something had to have come up, and it didn't look good.

"Shadow... Ah gee... how do I put it? Are you and... well, ya know. What I mean to say is..."

Sonic, who had been listening to the conversation, walked over to the both of us and came out with the question she had so much trouble asking, "What your trying to ask is, are Shadow and I lovers?"

She seem a little stunned that Sonic would come straight out with her own question, as if he was prepared to explain himself and his reasoning for the both of us.

"Yeah."

I looked at Sonic and stared into his eyes, as he stared into mine. Amy didn't have to ask to see what bond had been formed between us.

"Shadow..." I looked back at Amy, who had her head down. "... Just promise me one thing, ok?"

I pulled her chin up, looked into her eyes, and nodded.

"Follow your heart, but don't break Sonic's in the process."

Wait... those words, "Follow your heart..." those were in my dream when I was interrogated!!!

I never forgot that moment, as I knew it would somehow come back to haunt me.
