Since the storm, Robert and Maddy had been apart for some time. Never long enough to truly miss one another but then again they knew they had to be careful. Maddy was sitting in Robert's class when he popped a sudden test on them. Maddy didn't study, Maddy had hardly anytime to herself right now and recently. Adrian had been going through things at the house and Maddy was helping him out.
Maddy had some serious lack of sleep and was doing a bit too much staring off into space in class. "Maddy." Robert said. "Yeah. What?" She was pulled from her daze.
Robert raised an eyebrow. "See me after class. We need to discuss your grades in my class. Along with you Mr. Grey."
Adrian was asleep when Kyle, his friend, nudged him. "What's up Teach?"
"Teach..wants to see you after class. Now of you weren't sleeping you would have heard me."
Adrian ran his fingers through his floppy brown mop.
"Now, this is only part of what is on your final exam. I will need you guys to finish your fifteen page term paper by Thursday the twentieth."
Maddy rolled her eyes, "Fuck. I didn't even start that shit." She thought to herself.
After class, Adrian and Maddy stepped out a moment to put themselves together.
"Hey. Is he alright?" Adrian whispered. "He is just worried about us. Don't worry about it." Maddy opened the door to see Robert and a tall blonde sitting on the corner of Robert's desk.
Maddy froze. Adrian grabbed her arm, "Dude. This isn't what it looks like. Walk down there. You can't be mad." He whispered.
Maddy nodded, she could overhear part of the conversation, "Look, Ms...uh.. Delaney was it." She could hear the distaste in his voice. "I am currently in a relationship. I am flattered but, no thank you."
Maddy balled her fist a moment, until she heard those words.
"Madison, Adrian!" Robert exclaimed. "Excuse me I have students to attend to."
The blonde rolled her eyes as she hopped off the table. The door shut behind her, "Slut" Maddy said aloud.
"Well you aren't wrong." Robert grinned.
"So. Mr. Downey. What did you need."Adrian focused on the issue.
"Look, I like you I do. Both of you, but, I can't see you guys fail this class. Really. Adrian, you really need an A on this final and on your paper. Maddy. I just wanted to tell you I really need you to step your game up. You have great potential. You gotta apply yourself."
Maddy raised an eyebrow, "what?"
Robert shrugged, "Let me put it to you this way, I'm not going to fail you so you lose your grant but, You need to get a decent grade on your paper, final and this quiz. Just because we have other things going on, doesnt mean I am going to treat you any different."
Adrian just laughed. Maddy looked at him, "Just...nevermind. Bad thoughts."
Maddy elbowed him.
Robert looked at Maddy, his eyes concerned. He mouthed, "I love you" but then said aloud, "I don't want to see you fail. I mean it. All of it."
Maddy nodded, "Can I send over a copy of my paper? So you can proof read it?"
Robert nodded, "I can look at it, yeah."
Adrian just rolled his eyes and left.
Robert looked around and mumbled, "Text me later."
Maddy nodded and left and Robert went back to his work.
Later that evening Robert sat on his bed, staring at the space only hours before Maddy was laying. He sighed and picked up his phone.
Maddy was typing her term paper as she said she was going to when her phone began to ring.
"Hey." She said.
Robert cleared his throat, "Hey whatcha doin?"
"My professor told me I had a stupid paper to write and I proofreading and about to send it to him."
Robert crossed his legs, grinned and bit his lip. "Can't you do that here?"
Maddy looked at the time, it was 8:34pm, "I could but, that requires me taking all my stuff and coming over there."
"Let me come get you. Being clothes you're sleeping over."
Maddy couldnt help but blush over how straightforward he was.
"Yeah I guess. Alright." Maddy was closing her laptop and getting up.
"You hungry? We can order in?"
Robert insisted.
Maddy looked to her phone as if she was looking through the phone at him. "Hell yeah."
Robert loved when she got excited.
Thereafter in a heartbeat, Maddy and Robert were together again.
"So who was the slut at your desk,"Maddy asked a mouthful of Lo Mein.
Robert took a napkin to his face and swallowed his food, "Ms.Delaney. Some lonely, bitch face, middle aged, wanna be TILF, who thought she could seduce me."
"You think she is pretty?"Maddy asked this time, clearly. She stopped eating.
Robert raised his fork and looked at Maddy, only to put his fork down again.
"I can say with all honesty, I would rather fuck a horse than her horseface."
"That much huh?" She asked.
"I am not into someone whose idea of flirting is wearing some cloth trying to hold itself together, while some spandex and poor Botox injections are keeping the skin from falling the woman. Turning her into a puddle."
"Sounds like a nice horror film"
"I am almost positive that woman is what Freddy Kruger looks for underneath his bed at night." Robert smiled. It melted Maddy into a near puddle.
"I gotta get back to work Robert." Maddy didn't want to but she didn't want to fail either. This was her dream after all.
"You know something?" Robert asked.
"Hmm?" Maddy got up.
"You're so cute when you don't want to do anything."
"I really don't want to write this paper. However, this is something I want more than anything else. I want to succeed..lacking off doesn't do anything towards that goal." She was almost defensive.
Robert threw his hands up, "Not judging. Just want to let you know you're cute."
"Speak for yourself." She shyly grinned. Flirting wasn't her first language.
