We've been on our quest for a day now and so far we've been lucky. As lucky as two demigods and a demi-monster can be anyway. Annabeth said some of the monsters might be staying away because of who my mother is. We were currently in New Jersey and we needed food. Percy kept complaining about how hungry he was. Me and Annabeth just rolled our eyes at him and laughed. It felt good to have friends who actually like me.
"Ok Percy, Next town we come to well stop and get food." Annabeth said
"Yes! Thank the gods!" He yelled. Me and an Annabeth laughed and chased after him. When we got to the nearest town, Percy ran for the first McDonald's he saw. I swear, the lady taking our order had mismatch legs, flaming hair and fangs. We got our food and sat down at a table.
"Hey Annabeth, was that a monster who took our order?" I asked
"Yeah, an empusa. Some monsters got tired of fighting in the wars, to they try to live human lives. Sometimes they have safe houses for demigods on quests or on the run. But those aren't always safe." She explained. We ate the rest of our food in silence.

After walking another few miles it was getting dark, we decided to make camp. We were by a river so Percy was practicing with his powers. For half an hour he was just manipulating the water into shapes in the air. Annabeth told me this should be extremely easy for him, but when we looked over at him, he had a look of pure concentration on his face and already had beads of sweat running down his face. I felt bad for him. We sat in silence, occasionally hearing water fall back into the river and Percy swearing because he dropped it. I stared at the fire and thought about how percy has a loving dad who cares about him. My thoughts drifted to my own dad. What was he doing right now? Missing me? Wondering what i'm doing? He doesn't even know im here, on this cross country quest. As I stared at the fire, I could see vague images of me and my dad, me and Rachel, and all the good times I've had in my life.
"It's Hestia. She's reminding you of the good things in life." Annabeth said
"Can you see them too?"
"Yes, well, my own happy memories."
I looked back at the fire and just watched. I don't know how long I stayed there for, but I soon drifted off to sleep. I was woken up by an ear piercing scream. Our cam was surrounded by, seals? No, dogs? Dog-seals? I touched my neck and Roise grew to her full size. I said οχιά and she turned into my sword. I slashed swiped and hacked the seal-dogs into gold dust. I was able to paralyze some of the monsters, but there was just too many. I looked over at Annabeth and she was surrounded I saw a seal-dog come up from behind her and put a rag to her mouth and nose. She fainted seconds after. Percy saw and ran over to protect his girlfriend. Sadly one of the monsters cough up to him and he too suffered the same fate. The seal-dogs then turned to me. I tried to defend myself but there were just too many. I was overpowered and soon a rag was put up to my face. I tried to stay conscious but I eventually succumbed to the darkness.
Annabeth POV
When I woke up, the fire was out and gold dust littered the grass. I looked around and saw Percy starting to wake up also. We were missing someone. Ana! She must have been taken! I tried to remember the events from last night. Telnikies(a/n:is that spelt right?) attacked us. Great. I tried to remember what happened after that. I know that I saw Percy fighting off the monsters, then just as I was about to call out to him, a Teknikie shoved a white rag into his face. He fell to the ground almost instantly. A few minutes later the same happened to me.
I walked over to Percy to make sure he was okay.
"What was that, Wise Girl?"
"Think, what makes you pass out when smelt?"
"Chlorophyll or something?"
I laughed "No, Seaweed Brain, chloroform, chlorophyll is in plants!"
He blushed and did that cute half smile that always makes me blush. For the first time it seemed to occur to him we were missing a companion.
"What happened to Ana?"
"I think that the Teknikies took her. We need to find her."
"How?"
"I- I don't know" I say on the ground and put my head in my hands. I am a child of Athena. I should know how to solve problems.
"Don't worry, we'll find her." Percy said gently.
"I hope."

Me and Percy started walking along the banks of the river. I felt something crawl over my foot. I jump back and look at what had touched me. It was a snake. A white cobra to be exact. It had half of its body in the air and was looking at me and Percy. I looked around and saw that there were snakes all over the ground. Some not even indigenous to New Jersey, much less America! Boas, pythons, rat snakes, corn snakes, I even saw an anaconda or two in the water! The cobra turned its body and slithered away with all the other snakes behind it. The cobra stopped and looked at us again.
"Percy, I think it wants us to follow it." He nodded his head and we chased after the snake.
We followed it until we came to a stop. The many snakes circled around a broken object in the grass. There was a path made for me and Percy to walk through to get to the object. When we got to the object I could clearly see what it was.
"Oh my gods." Percy recognized it instantly but it took me a minute. It was Rosie, in her necklace form. Broken into pieces. Ana was going to be in more trouble than she might be able to handle.
