"Is it time yet boss?" The small woman asked the Alpha, shaking slightly from fear if he dies when doing what she loves. They had been working on this for months, without stopping. They tested on animals, some prisoners that were given the death penalty, and so on. Although, it was nerve-racking. At any time the doctors could have become infected, brought it home, and started it without realizing. It was time, the Boss had decided it was time for it to finally be released.
"3....2....1...." The Alpha spoke, then pulling down a lever and water gushing through tubes and into the water tanks throughout all of North America. From New York to Canada to Mexico, everything was infected. From that hour on, it was a free-for-all.
"It will take about 40 minutes for this content to be infected," One of the scientists looked at the Alpha, continuing to explain how it will lay out.
"Perfect. Let's see who will be the last survivors." The Alpha's hands were intertwined with one another behind her back. Smirking she walked off, to look at the chaos she had just started.
"This will be perfect, we needed new agents. This was the best option to find them, don't you think, Maddix" The light blue haired woman turned to look at the small figure behind her.
"Ma'am. I don't know if it is the best idea though... couldn't there have been another way other than killing off pretty much everyone in North America?'
"Oh no my dear, let me tell you we left the possible agents here and told the rest to leave, they're all in South America" She turned back to the window
"B-but- we would still be killing off a quarter of the world's population, possibly more- yet... you're okay with this..? What about the innocent families?"
"Shut up Maddix, this is my decision. Have you found my old friend Dani yet?"
"Yes sir, last we saw she was with a boy quiet older than her, he is in his 20's. They met at the back of a 7-11 and went to the boy's house."
"Of course she did, seriously Dani..." with a few steps the Alpha left the room.
"Maddix, follow."
"Yes, sir-" The girl spoke quickly and at a mumble, slightly slurring her words and looking down at the tiled ground.
"Okay, go get Dani to come here" She walked into her office.
"bu- ...this will be hard to do.." The small omega mumbled to herself. She knew a lot about Dani but never talked to her. Maddix was basically a stalker in a way if she wanted she could write pages upon pages about Dani's life. She found it hard to confront anyone who she wasn't fond of, let alone someone she had stalked for the past two years.
"Jesus, Just say Ariel needs to speak with her" She slammed the door in Maddix's face.
"O-okay.." Taking long and quick strides out of the building to her car, she sighed. Turning on the music to help ease her nerves. "Maybe I should slip her a note...? Instead of physically talking to her..? ..... Yeah sounds like a plan." Just then Maddix got a call from the Alpha.
"Shit..." She mumbled, answering the phone when she could.
"Hello, sir,"
"You know I have bugs in your car, you have to speak to her directly."
".....Totally knew that- Okayimgoingtodomyjobnowokaybye!" Within the time it takes to turn on a light Maddix hung up, her anxiety now showing as she sped out of the driveway.
Back at the house, everyone was asleep, Except Joseph. He was the only one who was up by five A.M, already working on a painting he needed for an application for Art school. Sitting in the garage with his easel and apron wrapped around his torso. The scene he was creating was a campsite, a starry night and a crystal lake in one. He had been practicing for quite some time now, not knowing if this will even get him into the school.
A few hours later he stopped painting and went to go wake up Dani. Cautiously walking up the stairs to make sure he won't wake up Oliver. Charlie was already down in the kitchen in his barista uniform getting ready to leave for work. The kid didn't seem to be in the best of all moods that day.
Once the tall man got to his room, he looked over at Dani and grabbed one of his flannels for her to wear when she wakes up. He sat the edge of the bed, gently shaking her foot.
"Good morning," He gave a warm smile at her,
"Hey cutie, what's up?" Dani sat up covering herself,
"Still the ceiling, but here is a shirt," He handed her the flannel getting up. "Do you want some privacy?"
"Um, sweetheart after last night I think it's safe to say you don't need to leave" She gave him a little peck on the lips.
"Still, it's nice to ask," The boy gave her a half smile. "Also, here are your shorts," He handed the black shorts to her as well. Joseph had his bandages wrapped around his arms, they were covered in dried paint. He was wearing one of his other flannels, it was a baby blue and royal blue mix the shirt was unbuttoned so his torso was exposed.
Dani put on the flannel and her underwear.
"So I've got something to tell you but first, where's your kitchen?"
"Its downstairs to the left of the main hallway, do you want me to make something for you?' He asked fixing her hair for her.
"I'd love that" she kissed him slowly, He kissed back, holding her chin slightly and bending over so she could reach. Just as all of this is happening Charlie walks in holding two cups of coffee. He freezes and goes pale. He sets down the coffee's on the dresser next to the door and closes the door, running to his car.
Dani stopped kissing Joseph and looked at the door. Joseph and Dani looked at each other and at the door again. He tries to catch Charlie but by then he was already in the driver's seat and pulling out with thin streaks down his cheeks.
As soon as Charlie pulls out of the driveway - and close to having a meltdown- another car pulls up. One Joseph does not recognize, the driver seemed off-putting to him.
"Can I help you...?"
"Yes you can, I-Is Danielle Rose h-here..?" The woman spoke through the window, trying to come off as friendly.
"Can I get a name..?" He asked, but as soon as he did Dani makes an entrance, seeing what all the commotion is.
Dani recognized the car and plate
"Ariel sent you?" She walked to them,
"Yes. They need to talk with you...also...do not drink tap water...."
"She's being crazy again?"
"Yeah...but she needs to talk to you, its orders that I was given.."
"Let me talk to Joseph first" She grabbed his hand and dragged him inside texting everyone she knew to not drink tap water, including Charlie.
"What is going on Dani..?" The skinny man was confused as to what the two females were talking about.
"Honestly I dunno anymore, but um hey I kinda have a girlfriend..."
"--What? Won't they get mad-? I mean, I don't want you to get in trouble because of me,"
"Yeah, I know, but I still really like you" She folded her arms around his neck; standing on her tippy toes.
"You have a lover that probably cares a lot for you...wouldn't it break them if they found out..?" Joseph remembered what happened with one of his exes, Cassidy. She hooked up with one of his co-workers at his old job. It tore him back then and it makes him have trust issues now in relationships.
