Prologue

         Monique read over for the second time before raising her head to watch the snow falling outside the window of the place she now called home...

it seemed like the author of the book was speaking directly to her. She let her mind wander back to the decisions she made back then.

After her initial anger and pain had passed, she allowed herself to reason and see past the fog her pain had created.

Tearing the pieces oft 'that' memory apart, she saw a whole lot of things she failed to see and take into account before.

The malice and mischievous glint that had been on Caroline's face and eyes ... 

The pain,disbelief and disappointment that had been etched all over Edgar's face when she took her twin sister's words to heart.

          She realized now, how impulsive she had been by running away to avoid her problems instead of facing them...

If only she could turn back time,  perhaps things would have been different...

     The pain was not gone. NO!! It was next to impossible to even try to pretend she didn't feel it.

She felt it each passing day and though she knew Edgar had been speaking the truth, she couldn't move pass all the evidence that backed up Caroline's claims.

Her naked body beneath Edgar's muscular one, her desire filled eyes and her swollen lips which from her experience indicated they had been kissing.

Something had happened between them and that was what kept holding her back from forgiving Edgar and Caroline completely though she and her twin had met together at family functions after the horrid incident.

It had been a Cold War between them at first but after a while, she got approached by Caroline who called her out for being a hypocrite for not wanting to forgive her just because she slept with Edgar when she herself was supposed to be taking revenge on Caroline's behalf only to end up banging him and falling in love with him all together behind her sister's back...

           It was hard but they were at a better place now and even acted civil when the other was around.

She even knew the Beijing deal had being a successful one through the media because Edgar's breakthrough had fallen through that.

He was now a multi-billionaire and one of the most influential men in New York City. The big apple

He was splashed on the cover on every business news and Magazine. She had read in a magazine that Lancaster Holdings has been turned around.

It has now taken dominion over the business world seeing as its CEO worked himself to death and demanded only the best from his employees

It was shooting up all around and she knew in her gut that it won't be long before Edgar starts one in her country of refuge...

What surprised her was the fact that every year, each company around the globe's net worth is aired and 20% of its proceeds is shared among the orphanages and shelters in that country.

He was even enlisted as one of the hottest bachelors in NYC
"If only they knew"  Monique thought with a scoff

He had changed over the time that had passed. He had grown more handsome and muscular but cold and detached from the rest of the world...

Not one of his pictures all over the media held a smile or even a smirk on his face. Just a blank look on his face with empty eyes.

It broke Monique's heart to see him this way but she would never admit it to anyone not even her own self...

            She didn't know this new Edgar Kirk Lancaster but she was proud all the same of all he's been able to achieve...
Even if it was without her.

           She was drawn out of her thoughts by the loud chiming of her door bell.

Letting out a tired sigh, she set down the book she had being reading before walking out to check on the person who had dragged her out of her trip to her life misfortunes...
