"Can you uncuff me now?" Derek asked. I kept him cuffed as a way of still punishing him. I was cuddling up to his side tired after our physical activities. Well my physical activities, I did all the work which is why I don't think this was a very well thought out punishment.
"Nope" I said too tired to get up and get the key. "What are you going to ask your mom?"
"I don't really know yet" Derek said.
"Another one of your well thought out plans" I stated.
"Advice" Derek said "What to expect now that the nematon has power again"
"And you think your mom knows the answer?" I asked him.
"Yeah, you know my family not only lived in Beacon Hills, but they protected it" He said.
"I did not know that actually, I mean I only thought she was only ever protecting you guys, you know from the hunters, I mean that's why my family came to town, to help with the Argents." I explained.
"Beacon Hills will always be a beacon for the supernatural, if the nematon has power or not. People would try and give it power but my mother always stopped them" He explained.
"So even if the nematon looses it's power, Beacon Hills will still attract the supernatural?" I asked.
"Not as badly, but yeah, there will always be people who want to give it power, to have that much power for their own, like Jennifer. Now that it has this much power now, I have no doubt that it will attract something dangerous" He said.
"More dangerous than Jennifer?" I asked.
"Yep" He said.
"Perfect" I said getting up to grab the keys. Once I unlocked his hands he stretched them then engulfed me with his body in a hug. After he finished he grabbed my face and kissed me. The kiss was tender and soft, my favorite kind. Then we both drifted off to sleep, hoping tomorrow was a success.
***
"Alright lets see it!" Peter said walking into the loft like he owned it. Thank God I was dressed. Derek looked more angry than I was. Derek said that he managed to get Peter involved without actually telling him what it was they were risking their lives for. All he had to say was that it was important and Peter went along with it, surprisingly. But I know Peter he's going to want something in return for his own selfish reasons.
Derek grabbed the box that contained Talia's claws and opened it. The process of opening it wasn't at all easy Derek had to turn the lid multiple ways until it finally opened. On the coffee table he poured out five claws, the five claws that were the only thing left of Talia Hale.
"After the fire, this is all that were left of her" Derek said. Peter looked down at the claws in fascination.
"Talia. I can't decide if that's touching or morbid. I guess the real question is, what are you planning on doing with them?" Peter asked.
"I have to ask her something and from what I heard this is the only way possible" Derek said. Peter looked at his hands back to the claws. I was a bit confused, I never asked Derek exactly how he was going to use his mother's claws to communicate with her.
"You've got to be kidding me" Peter said.
"What?" I asked.
"He wants me" Peter said taking a breath. "He wants me to wear her claws so I can stab them in his neck"
"You didn't tell me that's how you were going to do it" I said looking at Derek.
"It's the only way" Derek said.
"Well I can do it, I don't think you should be putting this much trust in Peter of all people" I said.
"That hurts Haley" Peter said.
"Shut up" I shot back.
"Peter is the only one who knows how to do it" Derek said.
"I don't like it" I said. Derek walked up to me and cupped my face in his hands.
"I don't either, which is why I want you here to watch, make sure he doesn't do anything" Derek whispered. I nodded my head. We walked back to where Peter was sitting on the chair by the table.
"Are you guys done talking about me like I'm not in the room?" Peter asked.
"We know you're in the room Peter, we just don't care" I said. I guess I should be somewhat nice to him, seeing as Derek's life is going to be in his hands for I don't know how long.
"You know, there's always an element of danger to rituals like this. I'm not particularly fond of them. Unless they somehow benefit me." Peter said.
Called it. Selfish piece of shit.
"What do you want?" Derek asked as he started to drop the claws back into the container in a way which the claws were ready to be stabbed into Peter's nail beds.
"I want to keep them. Sentimental value. She was your mother, but she was also my sister." Peter said. Derek and I looked at him in disbelief. "What? Am I not allowed a little bit of sentiment?"
"I didn't think you were capable of having sentiment, seeing as you only care about yourself" I said.
Shit, I gotta be nice, I forgot.
"Whatever, just do it" Derek said getting up and walking over to me while Peter readied himself to stab his nail beds, I have to admit, It sounds painful. After not even thirty seconds Derek lost patience.
"Too long" Derek said and pushed his hand down. I winced at the sound of Talia's claws stabbing his fingers.
Once Peter got over the pain Derek sat down in at chair in a way that made his neck easily accessible to Peter. Peter stood up and observed his new claws.
"Not really my color" Peter said looking down at Derek. "The pain is going to be like nothing you've ever felt before"
"Just do it" Derek said then looked at me. I gave his a small smile of encouragement.
"Tell her I said hey" I told him then Peter stuck the claws in the back of his neck. I hate seeing Derek in pain and I'm glad it only lasted ten seconds. The two of them were in a type of trance. I walked up to Peter.
"Yo!" I said trying to get his attention. "Oh how easy It would be to kill you right now." But I can't because in killing him something would happen to Derek.
Third Person POV
Derek took a deep breath and was shocked to find himself still in the loft. The only thing different was the giant Nematon in the middle and the absence of Peter and Haley. After a couple seconds a wolf he was all too familiar with came trotting into the room and jumped onto the tree stump. She glowed her fierce red eyes to let him know it was really her.
"Mom" Derek whispered.
"My son" She answered. The way she talked wasn't through her mouth but almost like it was being transmitted into Derek's head. Talia was stuck in her wolf form. "We don't have much time"
"I need to ask you a couple questions" Derek said. "The nematon, it regained power, how do we take it back, do you know?"
"Once power is given to the nematon it can't be taken away, like a flame it will eventually burn out but it will always be there, and by the time it does burn out it will be a while from now. That's why we stayed in Beacon Hills, why we protected it" Talia said.
