REPUBLIC COMMANDOS: KNIGHT SQUAD

PART 5: CLIMB

Knight squad stood before holo-pad with the clone commander of the force, they were awaiting news, but nothing got through to them.

'It's clear then, they have a jammer in place' Knight nodded, and the commando activated the holo-pad to show the command spire structure as well as the perimeter walls sections.

'Well be able to take down the jammer so long as we can locate it' Cross noted.

'And that's the problem, no one can track its location, but it is in the command spire as far as we know', the Commander responded. 'we can't get a lock on it from our position and the enemy air support is preventing any approach.'

'Then our priority would be the hanger first, well go in and disable it but we won't be able to get close on foot,' Knight remarked.

'But if we separate we will not be able to contact each other for support,' the commander began. 'any ideas?'

'Sir's,' Shogun piped up, 'we might be able to piggyback on enemy transmissions, all well need to do is take a comms station and hold it'

'Then those are our priorities,' the Commander readied his rifle. 'well take the comms station, you will need to make your approach on the spire. . . AT-TE 3452 "BANTHAR" is at your disposal'

'Shotgun!' Gunner yelled as he began moving, Cross followed and Shogun as well, but Knight took a second and took a breath and knocked the side of his helmet.

Knight approached the AT-TE with colourful red and blue markings on the front of it, Shogun and Cross were waiting for Knight while Gunner was on the main canon.

'Will I be driving?', Cross asked.

'Your safe, but slow. Shogun your up!' Shogun climbed on the vehicle and entered through an access hatch. 'Cross, forward guns.'

Knight and Cross climbed the vehicle and cross entered the vehicle, but Knight walked up to Gunner on the main canon. Gunner stared at Knight as he stared at him in the seat.

'. . . please! I said shotgun!' Knight tapped the canon barrel.

'Rear canons, now!' Gunner got off the canon and began to walk to the rear of the vehicle. 'I got a lot of rage to express

Knight climbed onto the canon and the vehicle began screeching forward and began traversing the terrain and entered the breach in the wall. The walker travelled a kilometre passed the wall before engaging enemy troop transports. The walker emerged through the carnage before reaching the base of the command spire.

'Shogun, I think it's time for the skyline tour' Gunner remarked.

The walkers forward canons dispatched ascension cables and began to scale the spire, the walker managed to reach the lower platform of the spire before great parting gates droids were swarming from. The walker cleared the hanger of droids and ships and pressed on, further scaling up the spire before the AT-TE was being hunted by a Vulture Droid.

'Get out! I got it!' Knight ordered as he turned the canon to face the Vulture droid approaching.

The rest of Knight squad began to use the walker's ascension cables to scale while the walker was on the verge of falling with Knight. Knight waited for the Vulture to approach and as it locked its approach vector, Knight readied the canon and fired a single shot, taking down the Vulture and it spiralled into the Walker, causing the remaining cables to snap. Knight got off the walker canon and shot his Brace-cable upward, for a moment he fell with the walker's husk, before gravity gave up its hold and Knight was left suspended by his bracer-cable.

'Knight?' Gunner called. 'you dead?'

Knight began to climb after them and Knight squad was together again on the next platform, and they entered the spires structure, eliminating groups of droids and found the enemies armoury. Gunner was browsing large personal canons and Shogun and Cross were examining explosives.

'Knight squad, come in!' the clone Commanders voice broke through their comm channel, 'I know you can hear me, but you'll be unable to contact me until the jammer is disabled, we tracked its position and it's on the north side of the spire, were tracking a large enemy force there but we are tracking an even larger security detail, we believe the enemy leader is there. Good luck Knight squad.'

'Well that's good.' Gunner piped up, hoisting a heavy canon to his shoulder.

'No, its not,' Cross remarked. 'if the enemy leader is near the jammer, we will face heavy resistance'

'Well we could keep it quiet?' Shogun added. 'so long as Gunner stays here.'

'That isn't happening.' Gunner added, throwing the canon at Shogun's feet.

Knight stared at the canon before reaching down and picking it up.

'Divide and conquer. Shogun and Gunner will hit the jammer, me and cross will get the leader' Knight squad looked at each other, considering the plan.

'Ok, but can me and Cross switch?' Gunner asked.

'Knight squad, let's move!' Knight marched out, shouldering the canon.

'Can I have the gun back- ok.' Gunner asked before rebutting his question.
