Hurry To Darkness

I ran all the way to what looked like a high way but I had to hide because the police drove past and went straight to my house. I needed to leave this place so when they passed I hitched a ride on the next truck that passed by. There was a little boy my age and his mother, they were going to a place called the suburbs up the street. I personally had no idea what the suburbs up the street was but I went with them any ways. The boy saw one of my dolls sticking out of my bag and pulled her out.

"HEY DON'T TOUCH HER!" I yelled and pulled her away the boy's face turned red  in embarrassment

"Micheal you apologize this poor girl must have been threw a lot now leave her be" his mom said from the drivers seat

He apologized and gave the doll back to me. A few hours later we pulled up to a house surrounded by identical houses. "Well here we are" she took the keys out of the ignition and opened the doors for me and Micheal. "Thank you" I whispered while keeping my head bowed.

"So you know there's a red moon tonight I thought maybe we could watch some movies and go out to see it later" Micheal's mom suggested

All I did was nod my head and found a neat little place to sit quietly. His mother seemed confused when I sat down and stayed there so quietly she didn't even notice me neither did Micheal. As the clocked ticked and nothing happened I grew bored and dug out my two dolls and they whispered to me. We told jokes and giggled quietly so we would not disturb Micheal's mother who's name was Ms. Warson but she said I could call her Lin. I lifted my dolls closer so they could tell me more jokes but all they said  was "stay away from the red moons beam and you might save us and yourself".

When the time came Lin made macaroni and cheese for us and then she set up blankets in the back yard but I told her I needed to use the restroom but I lied. I hid in the restroom but the longer I waited the more tire-sum I grew. Soon I fell asleep in the tub only to wake to a pounding on the door hours later. I woke up panicked looking around only to find my beloved sisters missing. I yelled at the door "WHERES CAORLANNE AND PENNY, GIVE THEM BACK TO ME!" there was no response for a minute.

"I just came top say your breakfast was ready" I heard Micheal's voice trail off.

Almost in tears I opened my bag and pulled out the one and only dress I brought with only to find I had tucked my sisters away in my bag. They looked different today they were not smiling with rosie red cheeks and their porcelain looked fleshier than usual. "Huh." I mumbled while brushing my hair.

When I left the bathroom I remembered that the red moon was gone but they didn't turn completely normal. Why?

"Hello sleepy head, I heard you crashed in the bath tub last night" Micheal's mother sang out without looking in my direction. When she turned around she was surprised to see me in what she considered my Sunday best.

"Oh, well take a seat your flat cakes will be ready soon" she said happily

I sat down and pulled out my dolls and sat them next to me while I waited for my "flat cakes". I hope they taste good I'm famished. When she sat them in front of me I took one bite and was in love. They were sticky but sweet my mother or father never let me have anything but cereal for breakfast and it was the boring old people cereal too. As I was about to finish there was a knock at the front door I got up to open it but Micheal beat me there his mother following after us. There were two police men at the door they looked very big and rough looking.

"Hello ma'm, we are here looking for a young girl with the name of Mika" the first officer said even his voice was rough.

I ran back to the table and grabbed my dolls and hid in one of the cabinets. I was able to hear the conversation from the front parlor of the house.

      *Conversation*

"Not that I know of, bu-" Lin stopped talking and whispered something to Micheal "But I'll let you know if I find her or any clues."

"Thank you ma'm but would you mind if we talked to your daughter to see if she knows the girl?"

"Of course come in please would you like any coffee or toast"

"No thank you where is she" the men came closer to where I was hiding under the sink behind a curtain he grabbed the curtain and smiled at me
