A silence fell over the room as Governor Tompkins called in the prisoner. "Mr. Lee, would you kindly state why you are in this room today?" There was a silence that seemed to last for an hour before the Prisoner spoke. "I planned a mass shooting against a hospital." The advisers he was addressing gasped. "How could Mr. Lee have acquired a gun, did we not outlaw the pedestrian use of guns after a lone gunman had massacred the members of our capitol building fifty years ago?" The Governor turned to Mr. Lee. "Would you like to tell them how you obtained the firearm in question, Mr. Lee?" Mr. Lee froze up, not wanting to answer. "I asked, would you answer them, Mr. Lee?" He was still, as if he were a flesh-clad sculpture in the middle of the pristine room. Governor Tompkins sighed audibly before walking up to Lee. "You see, men like this are a danger to society, with radical ideas of how our society should function and look. With your help, ladies and gentlemen, we could eradicate the black market dealers that plague our societies and loan out illegal firearms and explosives to these so called Revolutionaries," Governor Tompkins said with passion and disgust, "and we can end the contraband crisis here on our soil, and protect our sons and daughters as long as they abide by our rules." The audience cheered and applauded Governor Jim Tompkins with such a grandiosity he had not felt since he was honored with his purple heart. He grinned while the applause and cheering faded. "We would not have to deal with those who opposed our change to our constitution, and those scum of the Earth would be eradicated for the well-being of our society." He motioned forth one of his armed escorts, who put Lee onto his knees on the podium before Governor Tompkins. "Let this unnecessary violence cease against our fellow Americans, cease." As the words left his mouth, a gunshot rang in the ears of his fellow statesman as Mr. Lee fell forward onto the podium, his last moments spent writhing in pain as the pool of blood beneath him grew larger. The crowd cheered louder than before, rising to their feet and chanting, "Death to the Revolutionaries!"

A boy outside the building radioed into his superiors. "Governor Tompkins has declared war against us, will we accept his declaration?" There was only the sound of birds chirping as the sun set in front of the boy. "Governor Tompkins has declared a war he cannot finish."

As this was said, another gunshot rang out and deafened the night, with one single crash of the window beside him, Governor tompkins fell to the floor. "I need medical personnel to my location!" Governor Tompkins shouted as his escorts surrounded him.
