Unexpected Romance

Welcome Home!

            A few days later I was able to leave the hospital but I didn't want to. Damon told me that my mom would want me to take care of myself and of course, he was right. Damon was staying with me until my mom woke up and came home and I wasn't complaining. Katie wasn't thrilled about that but I told her to just leave it and she respected that. 

 She came over and brought food with her and then I decided to go back to the hospital because I missed my mom. I asked Damon if he could just drop me off and he agreed. "Yea of course just call me when you want me to come and get you." Then he kissed me and drove away, I swear I loved that boy.

I walked into my mom's room and the doctor was with her. "So how is she doctor?" 

 The doctor turned around to talk to me. "Still the same, I will let you visit." After he left, I walked over to my mom's bedside, she looked so pale. 

 "Mom, you need to open your eyes, I need you. Everyone is taking care of me so know that I'm not alone right now. The doctors say I won't have too big of a scar on my leg, so I'll be able to wear shorts again! Also, graduation is in a couple of weeks but I'm not going if you're not there I couldn't stand to be there without you."

I went and grabbed some coffee and when I got back there were a few doctors and nurses in my mom's room. 

"Hey what is going on?" The one nurse turned around with tears in her eyes, which scared the hell out of me. 

 "Please tell me what happened you guys are scaring me." 

 The nurse put her hand on my shoulder and said, "Your mother is awake!"

 I almost dropped to my knees but she stopped me. I started to walk over to my mom's bed and she looked at me. "If you even think about skipping your graduation, I will kick your ass!" I ran over to her and gently hugged her while the tears flowed. 

 "Oh, mom I missed you so much." She put her one arm that didn't have the iv around me.

"I know, I was trying to wake up sooner my body just wouldn't let me. Are you okay, is Paul in jail?" 

 "I don't know mom but I am okay especially now that you are here with me again."

A few days later my mom was doing a lot better she wanted to get out of the hospital but they always had to run more tests. About a week later I was sitting with my mom in the hospital and the doctor came in and had a smile on his face. 

"So after the latest tests we think you can be ready to go home tomorrow, you will just have to take it easy." 

 I hugged my mom and started crying, "hey don't cry." 

 "I'm sorry I'm just happy, I hate not having you at home so I can't wait until you're back!"

My mom laughed, "you do know this means Damon can leave now right? I appreciate him looking out for you but that was making me uncomfortable." 

 I rolled my eyes, "oh mom relax he was a perfect gentleman." After that conversation, we watched movies and talked until my mom fell asleep and I went and called Katie.

 "Hey Katie, so my mom gets to go home tomorrow I was thinking we can do a little homecoming party for her?" She said that was a great idea and said she and Linda could set up something.

 "Okay thank you, just make sure it's a small thing, don't want to overwhelm her on her first night back home." After that phone call I curled up on the chair next to my mom, I was staying here more since Damon had to go on a business trip again, I'm starting to get curious but too afraid to ask.
